We will be there the day after Easter. We are staying off-site and will be driving each morning (3-days) to DL and park in the Mickey Lot using our free parking through AAA. After reading on here about taking afternoon breaks for a few hours and then returning back to the park, I was wondering if it is likely this lot will be full in the afternoons. I am trying to be realistic about the nap thing.. and I am not sure that my kids would sleep in strollers early afternoon at DL.

Can anyone tell me if they have parked in the lot after 3pm and how full it was? I am trying to be realistic about the nap thing.. and I am not sure that my kids would sleep in strollers early afternoon at DL, but they probably would in the drive back to the car or at the hotel.

when we go we leave to take the break in the ealry afternoon and return before 6 pm. . . never had an issue getting a parking spot. . many people leave. ..

Don't mean to hijack your post, but does everyone with AAA get free parking? I've never heard of that.

Thanks for the feedback regarding parking. Just didn't want to have to pay at another lot if the Mickey one stays full throughout the day.

Sasha, I am not completely sure if everyone w/AAA gets free parking. I believe that if you purchase your 3-5Day Hopper Pass through AAA, it comes with free parking or you purchase a Vacation Package through them. We just bought our 3 Day Hopper tickets from our Local AAA Office.

You are going during Spring Break- Easter week! I would not plan on leaving the lot or the parks after entry. This is one of the busiest weeks of the year, so leaving early will not gaurantee ability for re-entry. I would plan my touring around your most high priority attractions and search out quiet areas within the parks for naps. All of the schools in my area - 45 minutes NW of DL, are on break that week.

I doubt you would have trouble getting a parking spot - Mickey & Friends is the BIG parking structure. However, re-entering the park may be a problem. DS and DD have taken many stroller naps at DL over the years. Being local, we've never had the option of leaving for naps. DS never napped in his stroller, except at DL or amusement parks. We didn't usually stop and nap, but would stroll around and he would sleep. DH and I loved that time - we could see what we wanted and enjoy the little areas of the park. Now that the kids are older we never stop!!

familyoffive, when you say we may not be guaranteed re-entry, are you referring to re-entry for parking or into the Park? Because if we could not come back in, that would change everything for us as far as my planning. I read that a person can get a re-entry stamp... do they not offer one during peak seasons? And if they do, do they wash off it you go swimming?

Re-entry...

If you leave you could not get back in.. If they 'close' the park due to capacity.. But usually they stop selling the tickets and then it goes from there. But there could always be that posibility.

I have heard on here of a family that got seperated. The mom went out to the locker to get coats and was not allowed back in to meet up with the rest of her group..

"closing the park" occurs in several stages.

First ticket sales are stopped

Then if necessary "first time" admissions are stopped. This means you can go back in the park if you were in the park before (the stamp does not wash off while you swim).

Finally, all admissions are stopped until enough people leave and the Fire Marshall deems the park under capacity again.

When you leave they will let you know if the park is that crowded. The final stage occurs rarely and for a few hours at a time at the max when it does.

We've ALWAYS gotten BETTER parking spaces when we leave for afternoon break as early folks tend to leave early and leave us their parking spaces.

NEVER not been able to get back in (show your receipt w/the date on it).
