We've always used a car service but this year we are renting a car.We did this last year valet but can't justify the added expense. How far away do you have to park and are you charged valet only on days you use it like at WDW? Thanks all.

We have never used the valet, so can't answer that one. The walk from the self park is not bad. If you are driving away from the hotel towards the lots and can get a spot in the lot to the right, the walk to the hotel is less than 5 minutes (it took us a while to figure out that if you walk to the front of the lot towards the hotel there is an entrance to the hotel there  ) On one occasion we had to park in the lot behind the hotel. That is a bit more of a walk, but still not terrible.

I've used valet parking at HRH and it's about twice the amount of regular parking. It's good to drop off your car at the valet and not worry about hunting for a parking spot. Unfortunately, the parking lot at HRH tends to fill up very quickly. You will often see cars parked on the grass or on curbs. The rule of thumb is that once you find a parking space, don't move your car.

Parking at HRH is the worst of the 3 resorts. So bad in fact that the employees are bused in. There are often cars parked anywhere they can fit in self parking.

Agree, once you find a spot, don't move your car, especially near the evening. Parking wasn't that bad for us, we always found a spot. But the walk into the hotel, and then to the elevators is far. If anything, visit the grocery store first, drive up to valet, stop, let everyone out, unload your luggage, let a bell hop take it up, then go park. That way, you only tip once. Otherwise, it will probably take you 2 or 3 trips back and forth to get all your stuff up.

Do you pay for self parking at HRH?

Oct will be my first stay there and we're renting a car to go between WDW and Universal.

Any suggestions?

Yes you pay. It's $7 a night, automatically billed on your room invoice. Valet is $14.

Also, Do you pay just once per day if you come and go? We may want to leave for a few hours and come back. I assume we won't pay each time we enter the lot, but you never know.

Valet parking at the Hard Rock is about $12.00 or $14.00 a :wave2: day but it is definately worth it. The Hard Rock hosts happy hours and concerts at least once a week and it is almost impossible to find a parking space. Also, a lot of locals and tourists visit the Palm Restaurant at the Hard Rock - that also takes up a lot of the available parking spaces. I would def. spend the extra money and valet.
