Leaving on this Thursday night and flying into Hobby. We looked into shuttles and rentals cars and found a full week rental plus a few extra days plus parking at the port was about the same price as the shuttle services for our family. Anyone park at the port of Galveston? Any issues? We are staying Thursday night near Hobby since we get in around 10:30 pm. Our port arrival is at 1:00 on Friday, if we leave around 10:30, that should give us plenty of time to get to Galveston right? If I change my hotel reservation Thursday night and go strait to a hotel in Galveston at 11:00pm, how long does that take, if I can make it to Galveston by Midnight I will probably change my hotel?

Stay where you are at. By the time you get luggage and car, check in to the hotel, it'll be closer to midnight.

Leaving for Galveston at 10:30am and parking at the port is fine. You will likely be on board by 12:30 PM and enjoying lunch.

EmilysDad is right. Stay where you are. You are fine and your timing is spot on.

I have used Lighthouse Parking (http://www.lighthouseparking.org) in the past and have had success. I think we've used them 3 times now. They offer a discount online. They have both covered and uncovered parking.

I hope that your trip is magical!!

I agree with the other posters...keep your hotel reservation near the airport (depending on exactly ~how~ close to the airport you are, you may not be in a fantastic neighborhood, so I would advise eating at the airport before you leave, if you are hungry).

As far as parking at the port goes, there are quite a few options to park both at the port and at privately owned lots. You can get covered parking at a private lot for about the same price as an uncovered lot at the port (and some of the private lots are actually closer to the terminal). However, advance reservations are strongly recommended. I went online today to pre-book parking for our Dec. 18 cruise, and a lot of it was sold out. I got a covered spot, but it's not the location I really wanted.

I used EZ cruise parking on my last cruise and will do so again on the next one. They are close to the port and usually have a good promo code going on if you sign up for their emails. I used them for an uncovered space and usually pay around $8-$9/night and the shuttle was pretty quick.
