Hi my friend is planning his trip and as he is staying off-site :confused3 wants to know if parking at DTD is free? so I couldn't remember if it was free just for those staying on site like the parks.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Wayne, thanks for your answer. He also now wants to know if there is somewhere you can park your car for free and then get the free buses to the parks? I'm not sure if he means the Disney buses or shuttle buses from places like International Drive?

Buses don't goto the parks from DTD only to resorts. People have posted before about parking at DTD and getting a bus to a resort then another to a park, then same back at end of day. Its possible to do but would anyone seriously do that to save £8.95/day after spending £3,4,5k... on a trip. I love saving money but its either pay £8.95 or waste upto 2 hours a day messing with busses.

If they really want to save the parking fee either stay onsite or stay at an offsite resort with a shuttle bus(tips expected)

Disney have got wise to those wanting to save a few pounds......

A several years back when we stayed opposite DTD at the Bunavista Palace, you could park at DTD for the day & catch the busses that went from there to all the parks, but now they only go to the resorts, and you would have to find out which bus went to the park you were wanting to go, then get the bus to the hotel & then bus to the park. A very long way of going about it and it could take over an hour if your connections were not good. As Wayne says better to just pay at the gate and get the extra hour in disney. :goodvibes

Thank you both.

I have convinced him that paying for parking is the sensible option.

Am I right in telling him that if he pays at one park in the morning then that covers him for all the other parks for the rest of the day? (Could be useful if he has park hopper tickets).

Thats correct Paul, just pay once and keep the parking ticket, that allows parking at all 4 parks the same day.

and the bus service at DTD is sometimes very slow. You can wait there for the longest time to get a bus.
It's really a terrible waste of time.

you only pay once each day for parking at disney. So if you leave and come back, you don't pay a second time.

i bet if your friend does that parking thing at DTD just once, he'll learn his lesson and not bother with it again. I remember waiting at DTD for a bus back to our resort for over an hour. we weren't happy as you can imagine.
