Does anybody know if you can park at the DLH when you have PS reservations at one of their restaurants? If so, would you be charged?

If you can't, what are the best parking options? Downtown Disney parking?

We're staying at the DLH, but will have some local family members join us for one evening at Goofy's Kitchen for dinner.

I could be wrong on this, and someone will correct me if I am, but I am pretty sure you can park in the DLH lot anytime, whether you are a guest, are dining or whatever. They WILL charge if you are not a guest at the hotel but your family can park there. It used to be in the old, old days that you could get extra parking passes, so if you had a situation like yours, you could give them a pass, but the hotels stopped doing that, I believe.

IF I recall what a friend told me, DTD has 2 or 3-hour parking for free, so that may be the best bet for your family! I love Goofy's - I hope you guys all have a great time!

I would just park at Downtown Disney and walk over. You get the 3 hours parking free and the walk from the parking lot isn't too far.

Thanks! I think their best option (unless I could somehow pull a guest parking pass, but I doubt it) would be to park at Downtown Disney.

Anybody know if their lots get full around dinner time, or if there will be some spaces available?

We parked at PPH and ate, we just did valet. It was $11 then but I think it's gone up, I think I remember it being $14 in January. We did self park then.

woah are you kidding??? you got robbed..that stinks...ok let me tell you a little something....if you go and eat at any of the restaurants...not the snack places but sit down restaurants, you can valet your car and the restaurant will validate the parking for you...so all you have to do is pay them a tip... I cant tell you how many times ive done this over the years and its been one of the greatest things for me because I dont want to park at DD...I just want to park at the hotel and be done with it...

We have eaten at the grand california and pph. Each time we valeted, you get 3 free hours, just get the ticket validated from your waiter! :)

We asked and we were told no they wouldn't validate. So we paid our $11 and didn't complain.

That's interesting, pixiewings. I've only used the valet at the GC when we ate at Storytellers and was given a pass that the restaurant validated. I just had to pay the tip. I haven't tried the other two hotels, though.

I wonder if it was a timing thing, or if the CM just didn't know. Since Disney prides themselves on customer service, I doubt that anyone charged for parking just to make that extra buck if that isn't the policy. JMO

I can see where the DTD restaurants wouldn't validate for DTD valet parking. They did validate for 5 hours free in the regular DTD parking. It used to say something about validation on the DTD regular lot sign.

I would think that the valet policy for the hotels are all the same. We've always been validated for GCH valet. It used to be 5 hours though, not just 3.

Doreen - Why don't you give the hotel a call and ask them what the policy is? That seems like that would be the best solution. Let us know what you find out!

I don't know, it wasn't for DTD and it was at the PPH so maybe that's why. We really didn't mind so we paid it. If we did mind we would have simply done self parking. :) I haven't eaten at PP since but next time we do I'll be sure to ask again. Oh, we also asked the valet and the hostess who seated us, they all said no they don't validate. Maybe because it was valet.....maybe with self park we would have been validated.

Good idea, Nancy! I just called the hotel and got the 411 on parking at the DLH while dining.

This is partially true. If you have a dining PS or are dining at the hotel, they will validate your parking up to 3 hours. The CM I spoke to said it didn't need to be valet, so self-parking applies too. I guess if it's free valet for 3 hours, that's nicer, but then you'd have to figure in your tip.

The CM also said that for us, since we will be staying at the DLH, and if our guests were a small number (it's BIL, SIL, and niece) and they were arriving in 1 or 2 cars, then we could request a guest parking pass from the front desk for them to use for self parking at the DLH lot.

Mahalo again for all the great info!

We stayed at the Grand CA in April. My oldest is going to school down there & he came to visit us. The front desk issued us a parking pass, we put it in the window and there were no charges.
We have done it at Disneyland Hotel as well.
Both were self-parking and neither were a problem.
Enjoy!!
