Parking at different DVC resort than where we're staying?

Okay, so what is someone to do who is going to Jelly Rolls? Im guessing they have a parking agreement, seeing as though they are a third part vendor.
Take an Uber? Probably a good idea since it's a bar. But given that Jelly Rolls has no reopening date, it really doesn't matter right now.

Talking historically about parking, plus you know they will open at some point.
So, that really does not address the issue.

Bottom line… if Disney designed boardwalk parking for only BWV and BWI guests, then they made a huge error in planning.

The BW is a tourist area, and not isolated to guests at the surrounding resorts.

That argument could be made for any of the near-park resorts that have parking restrictions. The truth is that BWI/BWV parking is extremely limited and there are other ways for visitors to access the boardwalk area without using the hotel parking lot.

I don’t know how they’ll handle guests who tell them that they’re going to Jelly Rolls or another place that doesn’t take reservations and opens before Epcot closes. Since it hasn’t reopened yet, we’ll have to wait and see what reports we get. They were pretty strict about denying parking for mobile order pickups or even ride share drop offs in the mornings when people had to be inside DHS at opening to get BGs for RotR. I think they need to charge for parking (a higher amount than theme park parking) and then discount it with validation from one of the BW businesses such as Jelly Rolls.
Edited to add: Atlantic Dance re-opened recently. Maybe we will get some reports about parking for that soon.

We stayed at BLT and AKL Jambo on our trip in early July and we were able to park twice at the BW without having any reservations at all although we did have to show our DVC blue card and driver's license.

Agree, although I doubt it is very high on their list of things to do, LOL.

This is useful information! More details please - time of day, what you told the guard regarding purpose of your visit? It will help patrons of Abracadabar for sure!

Like what? I am curious.
The Boardwalk parking is not just for the hotel and DVC. It is for the Boardwalk.
I do realize they did nothing think that through.

I could get on board with the validation idea.
That’s a reasonable solution imo.

We stopped there for dessert twice around 8 and told the guards that we were staying onsite, owned DVC and wanted to grab some dessert and hang out on the boardwalk. One time they asked to see our blue card and driver's license but I can't remember if they asked for it the second time. I think they did but I'm not positive.

Thanks. Helpful to know that it was later in the evening, not at “free parking for Epcot” time! 😉

Is it really? I mean, the "Boardwalk" is really just the amenity area of the hotel. Count the restaurants and shops and compare it to any other hotel on property. The only difference is that it's outside.

I disagree. I do not consider places such as Jellyrolls and ESPN to be amenities of the hotel, especially since most places are not Disney owned.

Between the Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve, Boardwalk Inn and Villas, Yacht Club, and Beach Club and Villas, there are over 5,100 guest rooms directly connected to the Boardwalk. If you add in those with Skyliner access (Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, Art of Animation, and the Riviera), there are over 10,000 rooms. I don't think those venues depend on guests who would have to park nearby.

No, they don’t. But they don’t shut them out either. I’m betting dollars to donuts there is some sort of clause in the Jellyrolls lease that Disney must provide parking. Of course I have no proof, and I’m certain it’s not free.

That said, the only hotel on the boardwalk is the BWI/BWV. If you include all that can walk or connect by skyline, you may as well include MK resorts that can get there by monorail.

Bottom line, the Boardwalk has always been marketed as an individual entertainment area. Guests must have the right to park.
Again, Disney was very short sighted on this. There should be more parking.
I do agree with @CarolynFH … weed out the folks who park to enter Epcot. A steep parking charge waved with validation would put a halt to that, while still allowing true BW entertainment visitors.

The monorail doesn't not provide access to the Boardwalk. 🙄

It's marketed as an entertainment area for the people staying in the vicinity. There is no "right to park" for people who aren't staying there.

Well, the monorail was a stretch, as in to Epcot then walk. You incorporated walking in addition to your forms of transportation, so I extended your logic.

I will guarantee you that the third party businesses have some sort of parking agreement with Disney. Who would start a business with zero parking??
And it s not just marketed to people “staying in the vicinity”. That’s just silly.

I have no opinion on Jellyrolls since I’ve not visited the venue even when staying at BW/YC, but ESPN seems to be filled to overflowing when I’ve been there trying to watch my local NFL team’s games, so lack of designated free parking doesn’t seem to be an issue for them IME.
I live in an area w/ massive parking issues, so I chuckle at the notion of guests having some ‘right to park.’ Here if you want to patronize certain restaurants/businesses you either feed a meter or pay to park in a lot/garage, that doesn’t stop folks from patronizing those businesses.
Lack of parking undoubtedly makes it tougher for locals/off site folks to visit BW venues, but if the businesses on the BW are getting enough business w/out guaranteed/free parking I doubt that they care.
The issue as always w/ any near park restaurant/resort is people using the lot as free parking for their park visit - so even if free parking was available for BW businesses it wouldn’t do the businesses any good since park goers would fill the lot leaving no parking for customers of the business anyway. As a guest staying at a near park resort you should be able to park in your resort’s parking lot and not have to search for parking because folks not staying there have filled the lot & IMO that’s especially true for non DVC resort guests who are paying a per night parking fee.

I was a little bit miffed that they wouldn't let me park at Riviera at 8pm to check out the resort, which had a big empty lot but I understand the need to stay consistent. It would be nice if they were more lenient in the evening. I understand restricting morning/afternoon non-guest parking due to chances of people hopping the Skyliner to the parks.

They had part of the Boardwalk lot closed off during Skyliner construction and there was not one open parking spot one of the nights we were staying there. Had to valet and then I requested to have it comp'd which they did with no issue. The parking situation at BW seems like a whole different animal.

It's best to have a dining reservation or a DVC tour scheduled at Boardwalk. They have been really strict about this lately.
Just say you're going for lunch, and then grab a slice of pizza? OR take the sky thing, it lets you off in world showcase, right at the gateway to the boardwalk area . Could be fun? or, considering all blue card holders can pool hop, I can't imagine they will refuse you . BUT you could take a bus to someplace with the sky thing, and then do the entire route to world showcase. It lets you off at the entrance to world showcase, near France, and at the gate the resorts there use. Could be a adventure!
