If I'm having dinner at Chef Mickeys at 6pm and I park at the Contemporary can I go to the MK for a few hours after dinner and keep my car parked at the resort? I'm staying on-site, just not at the CR.

No, they will issue a 3 hour parking pass indicating the CR's intent to maintain parking for resort guests and restaurant patrons only while they are on that property. I personally have observed cars being towed there and wouldn't risk it.

Two other options: pay to valet at CR. Technically the 3 hour rule is in place there - or so I've read here - but it is not normally a problem. Or park at the TTC, take monorail to CM, go to MK and then monorail back to your car at TTC.

Last month a Cast Member told me they have become more strict when it comes to parking at the Contemporary if you're not a guest or do not have an ADR. So my advice is if you really want to go to the Magic Kingdom after you're meal at Chef Mickey's either park at the TTC, since it's free and take Resort Monorail to the Contemporary. If you don't wish to do that take the bus from you're WDW Resort to the Magic Kingdom and walk to the Contemporary. However please do not park you're car there once you're meal is done, because it's not fair to the guests who are paying a lot of money to stay there and can not find a parking spot for themselves.

If you use the valet parking then this should not be an issue. For self-parking you are usually given a 3hr parking pass.

Thanks for your answers. I'm going to park at TTC and monorail around for the night.

Valet parking is only supposed to be used by guests of the resort, either those staying there or dining there. Valet parking is not to be used to avoid parking at the theme park lots for a theme park visit. Most all the resorts attached to the theme parks have signs where you enter that state that they cannot provide theme park parking.

This may be Disney policy but I believe it may be one of those policies that they choose to selectively enforce (like when it is really busy). We valet parked at a couple of resorts (Poly and GF) our last trip for morning ADRS and then went to the MK. Both times we specifically asked the valet parking people if it was a problem. Both times we were assured there was no problem, no time limit, and no reason to worry.

My best friend also did this recently without a problem. She was staying at the YC and parked at the GF.

I can confirm that they did have a sign at the entrance to the Contemporary which said "We Are Unable to Provide Parking for Park Access." I can also confirm that I saw a lot of cars being told to turn around and leave when I was there last month, so obviously they are enforcing the parking there.

I wouldn't have an issue with it if I were staying at the hotel. Let's face it, a lot of people don't have cars if they are staying at CR, Poly, or GF (monorail resorts). I wonder though, if Disney is trying to monitor the cars that come and go through the resorts for security purposes? May be a stretch, but ya never know.

As someone who has stayed a lot of times at the Contemporary I can say they are always busy with cars in the self parking lot and I am not referring when people who don't stay there drive for an ADR at the California Grill, Chef Mickey's or Concourse Steakhouse in the evening. In the mornings the lot is usually full with cars, so not everyone who stays there or at the Poly or GF only uses WDW Transportation. My parents and I always have our own transportation and I am sure the people who stay there on conventions also have their own transportation.

Not to mention some of the Contemporary Resort guests who apparently moonlight as WDW Parking Security. I know *I* have more important things to do than cruise the lot looking for evil parking violators and then turn them in, but apparently some do not, as I have heard that there are actually guests that do this.

If I were you, I'd just park at TTC and take the monorail to CR, then either walk or monorail to MK after your ADR. OK? Or, hey, you could valet (no time limit there).

Best Regards,

We must be special ;) Every time I do the same, they just laugh at me... Same with security

OP, parking at the TTC is probably most convenient in your case

Parking at the resorts is basically for those guests of the resort or those doing something at said resort. My father drove up to spend a day with us while we were at BW...valet had no problem with him parking his car with valet services. I'm not sure if that was because we already had a parking permit for him or not though.
If you want to use the facilities at a resort and then head to a park, leave your car at the nearest 'public' lot. In this case it would be at the TTC. It's easy to get to the CR from there, then you can walk over to MK and then monorail or ferry back to TTC at the end of the day.

But, the OP is going to be dinning at the CR, or at least that is what I got from their post so if they valet the 3hr parking limit does not apply because you are paying the fee for the day. Usually the people trying to avoid paying for parking would self park at the CR and head straight the park which I agree is wrong but if you have your own car and you are having dinner at CM and then heading over to the MK for a couple of hours I see no reason why you cannot do that when you valet. I have never seen any of the valet areas full while at WDW.

It's also more expensive to valet park when you factor in the price and the tip. When you park at the TTC it's a standard $11.00 fee, where as parking is $10.00 + whatever tip you give them.

Besides the OP already stated they she would be parking at the TTC and taking the Monorail to the Contemporary.

I am aware that the OP has already indicated that they will be parking at the TTC. I quoted the specific post that I was repling to as that response was a direct reply to one of my posts so I was repling to that posters comments on my post that is all. I agree that those of us that valet are using it for convience and not as a cost savings and that my view is that the OP could use valet if they so desired to have dinner and then hang out to the MK for a couple of hours. We do this when we have ADRs at Chef Mickey's all of the time and have never had an issue.

I guess I was not clear in my previous reply. Since the OP said she is staying offsite she would have to pay $11.00 for parking at the TTC. If she were to valet park at the Contemporary for her meal at Chef Mickey's, it would be $10.00 + a $2.00 or $3.00 tip. So when you add up the prices it costs more to valet park then to park at the TTC.
