Parking at BWV

According to the Disney News on this site from 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening it looks like DVC members will not be able to park at the BW except in the over-flow parking lot. I guess we can not even valet park. I thought free valet parking was one of our perks?

I wasn't able to find that information on the site. Can you provide a link?

Yes, valet parking is one of our perks. But it also seems evident that Disney is finally trying to address the parking overload situation at BWV. I doubt that DVC owners are the driving force (no pun intended) behind the parking problem.

On Saturdays and Sundays through the end of the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, the following will be the only ones permitted to park at the Boardwalk Resort between 10 am and 6 pm:
Registered Boardwalk Guests
Registered DVC Members
DVC Vans
Guests with Priority Seating Confirmation numbers at Boardwalk Restaurants.
Guests with Accessible Parking Permits
Certain Cast Members
All other guests will be directed to park in "overflow" parking, across the street from the Boardwalk Convention center.

Looks like it is only through the Flower and Garden Festival....Which is probably a good idea. If they didn't clamp down there probably won't be any parking. Though I don' see anything about Valet parking.

There is something a bit confusing about how that is stated. It says "registered DVC members". Does that mean registered anywhere on site, or just at BWV? I think the answer to that would be important.

I think they should make it earlier than 10am. When we stayed there, lots of people were pushing strollers out of the self park before 10am. Hard to believe they were all having breakfast at Spoodles. Spoodles & Flying Fish aren't open for lunch, so no one could pull up with a PS in the afternoon. ESPN doesn't take PS's. Not sure about Big River Brewery. They should still allow valet parking, especially for members, that lot is always half empty. They would be losing the parking fees (for non-members) plus the valet tips.

Thanks for the link. :)

The way I read it, it has no effect on DVC members or the valet parking perk. And it is not the end of anything, just a suspension for non-BWV guests during the busiest time of the year for that area....and then only on Saturdays and Sundays.

As for what registered DVC member means, unfortunately that will undoubtedly be up to some CM interpretation and there will probably be some confusion.

I am delighted to see Disney doing something about parking for BWV/BWI guests. I hope it continues beyond the Flower and Garden Festival, and I also think the policy should apply earlier - starting at 5 or 6 am.

As DebbieB and Granny posted, hopefully the policy will not be interpreted to prevent DVC members from using the valet parking. I've not ever seen or heard that the valet lot fills - except between Christmas and New Year's.

As far as self-parking goes, unless a DVC member is actually staying at BWV, I see no reason why the member shouldn't be treated the same as anyone else. In other words, DVC members who are not actually staying at the BWV should also be required to use the over flow lot.

The above is just an opinion from a BWV owner who has frequently not been able to find a self-parking spot in the BWI/BWV lot. This was in the late afternoons/early evenings in early December!

I too wish they would keep on with a more strict enforcement of who may park in the lot. It is very frustrating to return in the mid-afternoon or early evening and find no place to park and a great many cars with no parking passes whatsoever.

I agree, and this is a very fixable problem.....

Have the guard issue a temporary dashboard pass when you check in, as he is verifying that you are indeed a guest.

Then display the regular pass after you have checked in.

No pass - park across the street

Actually, there is no need to even issue the temporary pass - the guards have a list of everyone checking in. They may not always use it, but most of the times that we've stayed at the BWV, they ask our name and look at a list when we first drive up.

Best wishes -

I sent an e-mail to MS about 10 mins ago (5:10pm EST) about the information I was seeing on a website did not mention which one and this is the e-mail I got back just now. (I asked about staying at other Hotels such as the Hilton at Downtown Disney where I will be staying.)

Thanks for the email. Members are not charged for valet parking at Disney's
Boardwalk Resort, the
Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, or Disney's Beach Club Villas regardless of
where you are
staying. You just need to show either your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card
or your WALT DISNEY
WORLD Resort ID that says Member on it. You do have to pay for valet parking at
all other WALT
DISNEY WORLD Resorts. Please remember that anything you see on the "unofficial"
web sites is just
that, unofficial. If you have any questions, or if there is anything else we can
do for you, please
do not hesitate to let us know.

Sincerely,

Todd

Please remember that anything you see on the "unofficial"
LOL! Actually the information on the unofficial websites is often more up to date and accurate then what is on the official website. But I bet all these unofficial websites drive them crazy. Especially since any news spreads like wild fire, and then people start calling and emailing Disney.

Well I am not taking any chances of being "charged" I am printing a copy of the e-mail with date and times and taking it with me on Sunday. If they charge me I will have to whip out the e-mail and ask them to contact MS. (I will do this nicely, I am not a mean person) This is only one of the perks that I really use, I don't pool hop, so hopefully I can take advantage of valet parking.

We don't go to BW anyway if not staying there or BCV. There are plenty of other things to do when we're at WDW without having to deal with the parking hassles.

It's too bad the problem exists, though. Hopefully, they're looking at better long-term solutions.

This is very reasonable, and should apply at all properties. There's nothing worse than having to park in the boonies because all of the spots are taken up by "day trippers". I guess this problem shows why OKW parking is so often cited as a benefit to staying there.

IF you can get a parking spot in the parking lot located in front of your OKW building. I have had to park a building or two away quite a few times while staying at OKW. The building's parking lots closest to the HH were especially bad during a trip I had at OKW that also involved a business portion of the trip. I would be returning back to the resort approx 5-6 PM and almost everyday I could not get a parking spot in front of my building. So much for that benefit.

I hadn't thought of the HH area, you're right about that BWVDee. I guess the parking problem occurs at all of the resorts.

Yeah and if I miss read this wrong you can't park there at all from 6pm to 10 am!
