My DH and I will be staying offsite for most of our December visit. As offsite guests, can we park at the BW? If yes, is there a fee for self parking and what time will we be able to do this?

I was hoping we could park there, either first thing in the morning or sometime in the afternoon, on 2 days.

On our full day at MGM I will be trying for an ADR for Flying Fish and I thought it might be easier if the car is already over at BW so we can just walk/boat over after Fantasmic (or walk/boat back and forth if its a pre-Fantasmic ADR).

The other day we will hopefully have a R&C ADR and try for outdoor seating to watch Illuminations. Again, if the car is already at BW, seems like we could make an easier "escape" after Illuminations and head over to BW to walk around and maybe have dessert.

Thanks in advance for parking info! :car:

Because the Boardwalk is a public shopping and dining area with nightclubs, etc, there is public self-parking there (still behind the guard shack though).

Officially, you should only use that parking while you are at the Boardwalk facilities.

As was posted, you can park there, but it's a long walk from the parking lot. I would plan on parking at the MGM lot and just taking the boat to BW for any dining plans.
For your Epcot day, use the Epcot parking lot...that's what it's for. The BW parking lot is for those who are using the BW facilities, not heading to the parks. Believe me, you won't find it any easier walking to BW and then way over to the parking lot. The parking lot in the front of Epcot is closer!!

On days when they expect the lot to be crowded, they will direct non-hotel guests over to the other side of the street where there's an unguarded lot. It is a long walk. You could also valet park at the entrance to the lobby, which I think is $7.

Since you will not have a WDW parking permit, I would expect to be questioned if you show up to park first thing in the morning. It looks like you are trying to get around the parking fee at the parks. There is a sign saying they do not provide parking for the theme parks. It's hard enough for people staying at the Boardwalk to find spaces.

Thanks everyone! This info brings up another question for me though ...

How long after park closing time do the various modes of transportation run ... such as the monorail from MK to the GF and the Contemporary ... and the boats from MGM to BW? If a dinner runs longer than expected and the car is in a theme park lot after closing, can we catch a cab to the car? Should we just plan on taking the car if there is even a slim chance we won't make it back to the park where the car is before closing? It seems like heading to dinner by boat or monorail would be fun ... but not being able to get back to the rental car would NOT be fun. :)

WDW transportation continues for at least an hour after a particular park closes. So...for instance, if MGM closes at say, 8:00, the buses/boats from there to the resorts will continue until at least 9:00, and usually longer. Same at the other parks. There is a great pathway between the Epcot resorts (BW, BC/YC, S/D). It's very well lit, and very safe. I would double check the park hours for your trip. Then, base your dining plans around when the particular park is open. But, yes, you can always get a cab. The other option you might want to look at is parking at DTD...especially if you'll be heading to a resort to eat. There are no buses to the parks there, but all the resorts have buses. So..you could have a late dinner and then hop on the DTD bus and return to your car.

Also, I was a bit remiss earlier.....:welcome: to the DIS boards.

Couple things.. Valet parking at WDW is now $10. The "long" walk to the self parking across the street is about two block from the entrance to the hotel.....at age 67, I don't think two blocks is that much of a walk...JMHO:cool1:

If you read the DVC boards, there are people who almost collapse walking to the end of the hall at BWV. ;)
