Parking at AKL?

Not sure if this is a question for the resort or transportation board but I'm trying here first:)

Our flight gets into MCO around midnight. By the time we get our luggage and pick up our car, I'm sure it will be after 1am by the time we get to the resort. Having never been to AKL before (or on-site for that matter) I'm not sure how resort parking works...is there just a large lot or is there someplace specific we'll need to go...

Any suggestions to help expedite things for us would be appreciated. I'm sure my kids won't be at the top of their game at this time of night!

Thanks,

Pull up to the front to drop your luggage, and then park. The self park lot at the AKL is very close, and convenient. It's pretty foolproof to find from the front entrance.

Might be a good excuse to use valet parking!

There is a large parking lot directly to the front of the resort - you'll notice it when you drive up to the entrance - you can't see the lot from the resort doorway because of the massive landscaping.

I definitely second the idea of dropping off luggage/family before parking the car. While the lot is close, that late at night you'll probably be at the farther reaches of it.

If your flight lands at midnight, I don't think you'll be at your hotel before 2 a.m.

Another suggestion would be -- why not book a room at the Hyatt in the airport and go over to AKL the next a.m. That's what we do. It's really simple. You pickup your bags, go up the escalator, checkin and go to your room. No transportation issues at all.

We've done the get our luggage, pick up our car, try to find our way to Disneyworld at 2:00 a.m. thing several times and didn't enjoy it at all. We much prefer to check in the next morning -- and an added bonus is I think room availability is considerably better when you checkin in the a.m.

Just a thought . . . .

Elizabeth,
Your suggestion certainly is logical and I toyed with it originally but...
1) this is our first time on-site and I wanted the kids to be able to wake up the first day and see the animals from our savanna view room.

2) we only have 5 nights so every one is precious.

3) I think we'll be raring to get to the parks as soon as we're up so I think we'd rather do our schlepping the night before than waste precious daylight hours getting to the hotel and checked in.

4) I'm being the eternal optimist that our flight lands on time, that MCO will not be a zoo at midnight and since I signed up for both Budget and Dollar's fastbreak programs, that we'll be able to zip through the car rental process.

5) I just need someone to sprinkle some pixie dust and wish us well!

I hope I'm not being terribly unrealistic...I just don't want to waste a moment of disney magic near the airport!
