Parking a TT

This may be a little off topic, but I'm not really sure where to pose the question. We are planning a trip for the last two weeks of May '08 :cheer2: . We will be arrive in the Orlando area too early to check in at the campground and we thought we'd go down to Cocoa Beach before setting up our 23' travel trailer in Fort Wilderness. My question is are there places at the beach and near the Kennedy Space Center to park a full size truck and the TT? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

We are staying at a place in Port Canaveral (5 minutes from Cocoa Beach and minutes from Kennedy) called Jetty Park during Spring Break. It is on the beach and has a huge fishing pier. You can sit at your campsite and watch the cruise ships pass by. We haven't camped there but we did go check it out before we made reservations. We liked it. Reservations can only be made 90 days in advance. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply! I guess what I really meant to say though is we're looking for just a parking lot big enough that we can park in while we go down to the beach and see Kennedy. We've got reservations at FW, but we want to kill some time down at Cocoa Beach and so forth before settling in at WDW. I'm thinking we could probably go anywhere that has room for buses or regular motorhomes, but we're very new to this experience (first time trailer owners and first long trip).

Heck, I parked the truck and trailer in the parking lot to daytona usa last time we where down there. My therory has always been "We are bigger than they are." And if they dont like it, let em try to tow me. I have parked the camper(34' trailer, and cc long bed truck) across about 9 parking spaces before in some parking lots. If you can get in, just make sure you park where you know you will be able to get out. We went to the space center a couple of trips ago, but we had allready parked the camper (we are doing the same this time) but if I remember right the parking lot is pretty big.

Oh. Sorry I misunderstood. Well at Jetty Park you can still go for the day. I think when we went it is $5.00 for a car and $6.00 for an RV. They have places to park your TT and go to the beach. They also have changing facilities and a counter-service grill. I'm sure Kennedy Space Center has RV parking. Like most places though it will just be more.

This may be too geeky, but I have gotten used to checking out destinations in advance using search engines like Google Earth and Windows Live Search with the birds eye view to verify access, parking, etc. I put in a link below to the birds eye view of somewhere along Cocoa Beach in FL and the roads look pretty decent, did not see much for parking on this particular area. This service really helps in looking at what kind of approach there are to the different intersections you may encounter, whether you will encounter a concrete divider in the intersection or near it which might affect how wide you can swing the corner, etc. Good luck!
