Parkhopper's July Pin Party Countdown!

Looked at the calendar today and can't believe it is only two weeks until the July Pin Party! For anyone who is interested I am hosting a Pin Party in Rockville, Maryland on Sunday July 22nd. The first Pin Party, which was on June 10th, was a great success and we had traders from all over, as far away as Kentucky, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. We had 42 people attend and at one point there were 35 people there all at the same time! Lots of trading, planned pin activities, door prizes, and more! We will have food and drink and we have a great location with no fixed time limit for the meet!

We are looking forward to another great Pin Party. I will be providing more details here again as we get closer. I would also love to hear from people who are planning on attending so I can plan accordingly. This will be a good warm up event heading towards the August Pin Event in WDW. Hope to see you there!

FYI I booked a room at the Courtyard by Marriott-- the Rockville one and I got the room for $59.... but the website says you must book by 7/12... so if anyone else needs it, don't wait too long

I will be there with DH and DD. Just the three of us, this time.

DS#1 and DS#2 are at camp for the summer.

I'm hoping to make it down this time. Don't think it's too long a drive from Lancaster, PA. I however, will need directions. I can get lost going around the block .
Well maybe not quite that bad. I'll bring along the pictures from the pin meet on May 15, at The Boardwalk.

I am new to this board, and new, new, new to pin collecting/trading! We go to WDW every year, and although I bought just a few pins last year as stocking stuffers for xmas, it wasn't 'til our trip a couple of weeks
ago that we noticed and caught this craze. Now, we are going into withdrawl and wondering how do we keep up this hobby if we can't go to WDW all the time?

So, how out of place would I be, since I don't have a lot of pins, and pretty much all but one or two, are just rack pins? I would love to come just to meet people (I love the people part)and learn more (there seems so much to know and learn), but I'm really hestitant to show up with my one silly lanyard and a few extra pins....really, how out of place will I be?? And tell the truth!

C'mon down! Everyone's got to start some where. I love to meet the people behind the names on thse boards and also like to help out new traders with the myriad of questions they have. We were all there once.

Seeing some pins in person can help you decide which ones you want to go after. Some look better in person than they do in a pic and the reverse is true others. I got 2 in today and was surprised at the size of them both. One was smaller than I expected and the other much bigger.

Ruthie, please come!! We will have all levels of traders there and will even have a few non traders who just enjoy meeting others with a love of all things Disney. It is a wonderful social event and can be a great learning experience (I always learn about new pins at each event!) We would love to see you there!!

The basic information for the party is as follows:
Sunday July 22, 2001

Party officially starts at 1:00pm, but we will be there starting at 12:30pm for any early arrivals.

There will be food and drinks provided at the party.

Hopefully there will be a good turn out, however, there will be enough vouchers for everyone so lining up the night before is not necessary or recommended.

There will be pin related activities in addition to plenty of trading.

I will keep updating additional details from time to time as we get closer to the Party!

Can't make it to this pin party for I am running the Boy's 18 Super National Clay Court Chmps. Hey...I just noticed the Boys' 16 Clay Court Chmps is in that ever so popular Rockville, MD. How small world is that?

I will be thinking of you in your pin trading frenzy. Hope Kentucky will be represented by someone else.

Haven't gotten to look at my pins recently. Hope they are still here somewhere.

Thanks Suzi and Dom13 for the encouragement; I'm going to give it a try and come join you! Since we got back from our trip, I have been so anxious to get together with other traders. I just can't figure out how you build your collection qucikly without buying a bunch of pins to start with!

I'm not that far from Rockville(on a no-traffic day!)and the directions seem pretty clear. Anxious to meet you all! Will be waiting to hear more details!
