parkhopper tickets

I bought a 4 day park hopper plus for my 7 year old. If he does not use all his days on it what will happen if we go back after he turns 10? will i lose this ticket?

Good question, not sure about the answer to that one. Once it's turned into an actual ticket I don't think there's any difference, so it shouldn't matter.
But maybe someone with a little more experience with this situation will shed some light.

Is it really going to be that long before your family can go again?

You won't lose the days. You can just take it to Guest Relations on the return trip and have them convert it to an Adult ticket w/ no extra charge.
