We are taking our girls to disneyland for the first time next month. I'm looking at the disney website to buy tickets. Is there a benefit to buying the park hopper passes?

This is our first trip to Disney (so excited!!). We are doing 5 day passes and I was thinking we would do 3 days at disney and 2 at CA. What would the benefit of the parkhopper pass be? I mean, obviously I know we could go back and forth, but is there a reason we would want to do that?

Yes! Because the parks are so close together, most of us around here parkhop to get the most out of our visit. It can also be helpful to parkhop when things get too crowded at one park or the other.

I would especially advise you to get a parkhopper right now because DCA is really a construction mess. You probably will not want to spend two whole days there. If you have a parkhopper, you can visit DCA for a few hours and come back to Disneyland as you like. It also gives you maximum flexibility for watching shows and the parade (like if the fireworks are cancelled, you will have another opportunity to watch them).

We usually start at Disneyland, parkhop to DCA in the afternoon, and return to Disneyland later in the day. Alternatively, some days we sleep in until DCA opens, then park hop to Disneyland. It gives you maximum flexibility to really do whatever you want that day. Have fun! :goodvibes

Thank you! That seems like a good idea then. I guess I was thinking of the 2 parks as very separate entities.

The only time we have not park hopped is when we have had a one day pass. We love park hopping. Our kids (DD8, DD11) LOVE DCA much more than you would expect - so we always end up spending more time there than expected - especially when it gets crowded at DL.

As far as I know all tickets over 1 day are essentially park hoppers. So if you bought a 5 day ticket you automatically get hopping. Hopping is great, we do it every trip! ;)

There are park hoppers that are more than one day that are one park a day tickets but they are CLEARLY labeled as such. http://disneyland.disney.go.com/tickets/

Park hopping is definitly the way to go. We will start a day at DCA get World of Color passes, wander around a bit, then head over to DL for lunch and then make our way back over to DCA in time for a ride or two before we que up for WoC.

:dance3: Here's to you (and your girls!) having a great trip!

ps. not sure if you are in the area to qualify for a SoCalSelect Season pass, and/or if your trip would fall on any of the blackout dates, BUT it is cheaper to get that vs a 5-day park hopper.

They had taken away the 1 park per day option to encouarge guets to go into DCa. But have brought back the 1 park per day option now that DCA is worth going to for a whole day.

I hop almost everyday. Even if just to do a couple rides or eat in the other park.

Of course we all know Tigger likes to hop but so does, :mickeyjum :dumbo: :goofy:

Actually, with the last ticket price increase they added "one park" multi-day tickets. You now have to pay $15 more to have parkhopper tickets ($25 if it is a one day ticket).

Yep. The Disneyland website has 1-park per day tickets all the way up through 6 days now. If it were me, I would just pay the higher price and have the hopping. I couldn't imagine going for vacation and having the two parks so close to each other and not having the option to just go back and forth as the mood strikes or crowds dictate.
