Park Vue vs. Desert Inn

Bluewild79....

We stayed at the Desert Inn in a parlor suite in February 2015 (with a 17 month old) and June 2017 (with an almost 4 year old.) We have decided to stay again in December 2018. We had good experiences. In 2015, our bed wasn't very good at all. But in 2017 it was much better. The staff has always been very friendly to us. We had a pack n play delivered to the hotel a few days before our 2015 trip and there were no problems with that. In 2015, our sink did leak but they came to fix it and it was no big deal. We had no problems at all in 2017 (except for a nearby hotel having loud, thumping music.) The location as great. The breakfast is basic but we had our own breakfast in our room most days anyway. We've never used the pool as that's just not something that interests us on a Disneyland vacation.

I think whether or not you like your stay can also depend a lot on your expectations of a hotel.

Oh...parking can be a bit limited so there's a good chance you'll have to use their valet parking. But it's not really a big deal, IMO.

Thank you! This makes me feel much better. We aren't expecting the Ritz-Carlton, just someplace clean and relatively quiet to rest our tired bodies! I'm all for valet - hubby worked as a valet in Vegas for years so I tend to gravitate towards that anyway.

We stayed at DI&S last summer. I remember when I walked in the room I thought "Oh my" because the furniture looked really beat up, and the rooms (C1 suite) were really really basic. But we had a really good stay! The place was very clean, the beds were very comfortable, and for the money we had a lot of space for my family of 5...all my adult sized kids had their own bed, and the 1 1/2 bathrooms was great. We may have lucked out, but we didn't hear much noise. We didn't make much use the breakfast, we just brought our own stuff, and we don't swim, so the indoor pool wasn't a problem. The short walk to the parks sure is great!

Thank you! I love hearing opinions. I'm super stoked for the short walk with 4 tired kids after a long day at Disney. Hurry up August and get here so we go on vacation!

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Desert Inn. As far as all of the little motels right there on Harbor I'd say quality wise this is near the bottom, but the price reflects that. It's cheaper than the others for a reason. It's a budget motel and it was fine for our 4 nights.

Yes, the breakfast is very basic, but we had no trouble finding seats.
Yes we had to pay $1.50 to store our bags in lockers as they are the small roll aboards. If you have large bags they will store them for you.
Yes, our room was way in the back and housekeeping didn't come until after 2pm so our room didn't get "cleaned" a few days. They did stop by and I just asked them for towels and shampoo, etc. and to empty the trash. We aren't that messy.
Yes, the walk to the park is nice and short. I clocked it at 6.5 minutes.
Yes, it is loud when people walk by the rooms yelling at their kids. I didn't hear anyone in the rooms next to us, but people outside our door, I did hear them. People need to be a bit more considerate. :)

We didn't use the pool but it looked fine. We did get in the hot tub and didn't suffer any harm. Most of the pools are very small at these motels.

This hotel wouldn't be my first choice, but on a budget I think it's fine. It's all about location.
