These are my notes based on our stay last week at Park Vue Inn for those wondering about it or considering straying from "the devil you know" (in our case, that's Best Western Park Place Inn).

1. Make sure you get a room with a closet! I was not aware that hotel rooms without a closet (or at least a wardrobe) existed! We reserved a bunk bed room and the first one reeked of urine so we refused the room and were reassigned (as punishment?) to the tiniest room sans closet that had approximately 12" of open carpet on either side of the queen bed, and from the door to the bunk bed and restroom. That means...

2. If you get a tiny room there is no place for luggage! We put the suitcase on the TV stand and blocked the head of the bunk bed with our square ice chest and the kids' small suitcases. We had to pack away every toiletry every evening and morning because there is no counter space or shelf in the bathroom; in fact, the towel rack is inside the shower! Moldy-smelling, damp towels are not my personal favorite. The toiletries bag had to sit outside the bathroom, so the kids had just a few inches of walking space to gain access to the bottom bunk (which you will remember had most of its access blocked by the ice chest).

3. Seriously, there is no room. Thankfully it wasn't raining (much) -- I can't imagine where you would hang wet sweatshirts and clothing to dry without your room looking like a 19th century tenement; there is nary a hook. We stacked laundry bags on the night stands with our dirty clothes (BYO because they don't have laundry bags in a room without a closet!)

4. Silly me thought I would take a chance based on reports from happy supporters of PVI over the past couple of years; I saved a big $75 over BWPPI -- that's accounting for BWPPI's parking fee. I will be thrilled to pay the difference in the future.

5. There is good news! The room was clean and there was no mold in the shower. The front desk staff was pleasant.

6. But one more note of bad news: the breakfast is beyond awful. To compare, we are fine with BWPPI's breakfast though it's no great shakes. PVI has weirdly fake "sausage" and some brown paper stuff I believe they are trying to pass off as bacon. The juices are not juice but high fructose corn syrup and dye based juice-esque drinks. There is no fresh fruit (even Ramada MATP has bananas and apples). The closest thing to actual food are the packets of butter. The potatoes appear to be generic frozen country potatoes. I can't fault them on the fake eggs since most places use them.

There are two ways to avoid these issues: Stay elsewhere
or
Make sure you get a room with a little more space and that all-important closet...and plan on eating breakfast in the Parks. According to one desk clerk there are four of the tiny, closetless bunk bed rooms. Don't let them put you in one!

Just as an FYI, the value resorts at WDW do not have closets.

I would be interested to hear some responses to this review from other people who have stayed here. We were just thinking of booking, and the majority of reviews I have seen have been positive (OP, not discounting your experience at all, just curious what others have to say in regards to your specific points). Now I am rethinking where to stay (again!)

We have stayed at both many times. You can't go wrong with either as they are both clean and constantly updated. I would give the breakfast at PVI a slight nod because of those wonderful fresh waffles and lots of fruit but both are good and will save you a lot of money.

Sorry you had a miserable experience:(. In response to #3, the rooms I've stayed in at PVI have always had a retractable clothes line in the bathroom where you could hang wet clothing and towels. Sorry to hear that was missing. Fresh fruit has always been plentiful at breakfast too, strange it was missing.

Did your room without a closet have an in-room safe? That was my main reason for choosing PVI over BWPPI. Although we booked 2 queens, so hopefully we won't be placed in a bunk room...

That's too bad- we loved Park Vue! And we thought the breakfast was quite good for a hotel breakfast. The room was small, for sure, but we managed to find room for our stuff, and we don't do laundry on trips like that so that wasn't an issue. We even had our double stroller in the room and it was fine. I didn't even notice if there was a closet, as we had no need for one.

Also, there was plenty of fruit, and the waffles and potatoes were very good (we stayed there end of Jan). You can see the matterhorn and monorail from the breakafast area!

That's the view from breakfast area
