Two adults (me and dh) 5 nights to visit DL.
If you could book PV or HoJo for the same price, which would you choose? Wifi and short walking distance and quite room are our preferred options.

I read about HoJo pool/water area but no kids this trip.

Read a good PV review here, my dh can be a bit of a room snob. Just worried we will walk in and :scared1:

We will have a rental car but I don't want to drive, there will be times when my dh may not go with me to the parks so I plan to go off alone. Our last visit 2006 and only visit we were at DLH and this was no problem.

Thanks, I know this question is asked a lot.:)

Having never stayed at PV and being a big fan of Hojo, I'm going to say that I'd go with Park Vue on this trip. I say that because its the same price so why not go with the closer location and free breakfast? You dont have kids with you this trip so the kids pool isn't important. PV gets good reviews so would probably worth trying out for you.
Just my opinion though! If you had kid with you I'd have a totally different answer!

I haven't stayed at either, but I just wanted to mention that I've heard good things about Candy Cane Inn. It is walkable (I think about the same as Hojos), but also has a dedicated shuttle. If I was going with just my hubby, this would be the hotel I would try. I've heard the rooms are small but nice, and the beds comfortable. And it might be a little quieter than Hojos, since the water area makes Hojos very popular for those with young kids.

I too have only done Hojo and not Park Vue. I would choose Hojo if the room you are looking at is in either building 1 or 2. I've been wary of the mixed reviews of Park Vue and have stayed at Hojo many, many times so am comfortable there and know what to expect. The extra walk and lack of breakfast don't bother us. We prefer the interior corridors and quiet.

Our second choice place is Candy Cane Inn. They have a decent continental breakfast and a free shuttle. I actually find the Candy Cane noisier though since it is a motel with thinner walls, but I wasn't too bothered the last time we stayed there. I usually ask for a room as far away from Harbor as I can get. Noise is a big issue for me which is one reason I like to be a little further down Harbor rather than at one of the closer, potentially noisier motels. We have tried Fairfield and Tropicana, and I found Hojo quieter than both of those experiences.

We are going back to Candy Cane Inn for the 4th time this July. When we went with our two teenage boys, we got the deluxe room which is still small but slightly bigger. This trip is just DH and I so we are going with a standard. You can see my review with pictures in my sig. It is a motel style, but has a charming look. We also loved Embassy Suites South (also in my sig) but it is too far to walk so we haven't been back. The closeness makes it easier to leave for an afternoon nap.

I haven't noticed any noise while at CCI but then we always bring our sound machine (to make rain noise) or a fan. We have found some sort of steady sound is important for a good rest at any motel/hotel. It keeps you from hearing all those odd noises, cars, or loud people. I've wanted to try PVI sometime but haven't yet. Those return visit coupons for CCI are a great deal!

Thanks for the feed back. I just checked tripadvisor the reviews of Best Western PPI and WOW.popcorn::

Any thoughts on this one?

Personaly, I would suggest the DLH(it was just completely remodeled) or the Grand. You will have very nice rooms and amenities, as well as on property...:cool1:

I stayed at BWPPI in 2007 and had no problems. I liked it and I have it booked in September.

I've heard they have even better breakfast offerings now than in 2007. They now serve sausage, scrambled egg patties and waffles. I thought the breakfast was very good in 2007 so now it will be even better.

We had a king suite last time and the room was very large for just the two of us. Never heard anything from outside our room.

We stayed at BWPPI last June. We had a nice stay, and would stay there again. It is a typical Best Western...perfectly decent hotel, but nothing extra special. Its real selling point is its proximity to the park. We are staying at PVI this July to try something different.

This is not an option, we did a May/june trip for 10 days to WDW with kids which was great. I had to pull a rabbit out of my hat to get DH on the band wagon:lmao::rotfl2:

I like the idea of a sleeper sofa for sitting and the bathroom sink/toilet setup. The best I can tell the PVI 2 queens (only Availible now) does not have this.

How comfortable were the beds, I know this is subjective.popcorn::
TIA

It's been years since I stayed at Park Vue but it was great for the price I paid when I stayed there. They have totally renovated the place since I stayed there and considerably raised their rates. It is very convenient to walk from there to the parks. The BWPPI looks like a nice place from what I've seen and I would probably consider this one over ParkVue for the $$. It is very close to Park Vue and also just a quick walk across the street to the parks. HOJO is highly recommended by a lot of people but I've never stayed there. It looks a bit more complicated to get to the parks from there. I prefer to stay at a hotel that is within reasonable walking distance to the parks & Disney Hotels so I usually pick one that is across Harbor Blvd from the main entrance or on Katella behind DCA and what used to be the original DL & DCA Parking lot if I'm not staying in one of the Disney Hotels.

I stay at the FFI more often then either of these two, but between the two I'd personally pick Hojo. Both are motels but Hojo is a little nicer IMO. It's definitely a noticeably longer walk, but it's still not a long walk by any means, and most likely you'll wander down that direction at some point anyway because of the convenience store, McDonald's, Mimi's Cafe, etc. Also, I found the jacuzzi rooms at PVI a bit bizarre in terms of layout (obviously just personal preference and not applicable to their other room types).

I've stayed at both. It really depends what it is most important to you. Hojo has a nice waterpark area. Both pools are about the same. Park Vue does have a quality breakfast each morning. Hojos beds are softer. Both are about the same on the cleanliness level.

I would pick PVI after reading your post. The distance is so convenient and easy for a solo person.

I found the beds at BWPPI comfortable...but not exceptional. Like I said, I would stay here again, and probably will at some point.

I'm sure I would remember if I thought the beds were horrible or bad. Since I can't remember they must have at least been good. The only time I remember waking up in the night is when my niece was kicking me. Should have stuck with the 2 Queen beds instead of the King. I was worried she would fall off in the night on a Queen. She sleeps more horrizontal in the bed!

We didn't use the sofa/bed much. I think the only time I sat on it was when she opened presents that her mom sent for her-it was her first big trip away from mom & dad.

We always stay here, in fact, we just got back from BwppI on Wednesday. I think the rooms are nicer than standard motel rooms, and the staff is always so friendly. The breakfast is pretty good. I have never had a problem with noise there, but we do keep the fan running all the time. We're staying there again in July. Do you have any specific questions?

We've stayed at both HoJo and Park Vue. If you want to go with a nicer feel, stay at HoJo. It has the inside entry vs. the door to the outside/motel feel of Park Vue. If being closer is more important, stay at Park Vue. You can't beat being right across the street from the entrance! HoJo is walkable, but it does take about 8-ish more minutes to walk to it. Not complicated, just longer.

Thanks for all of the input.

BWPPI it is.

So do you all rent cars at airport or use shuttle of some sort?

Any rental car company's in the area that you picked up there and dropped off at the airport?

Between the two you listed, we found the Howard Johnson's to be a slightly nicer facility. However, it's further from the main gate. In the mornings, it seems maybe 2 or 3 steps difference. In the evenings after standing for an evening show, it seems maybe 2 or 3 miles difference.

In general for all the hotels across the street there, they are all what we would call bare bones type hotels. We've never had roaches or bed bugs or fleas at any of them. Over the years we have caught some in more need of rehab and refurb than others and the like. But we wouldn't consider any of them to be worth significantly more than the others. And which one is the best price varies. If they're all about the same price wise, we prefer the BWPPI, or the Tropicana.
