I recently read on another website that Disney bought the land that Park Vue Inn and IHOP currently occupy and will be building a streetcar stop at that location. Does anyone know when the Park Vue Inn will be closing?

From Miceage Update it sounds like Disney purchased land to the north of the Pumba lot, behind the IHOP and Park Vue Inn lands. An earlier Miceage Update seemed to say Disney wants a streetcar stop in the area where Park Vue and IHOP are located, but it doesn't sound like they've bought or gotten control of the land yet. It sounded like they were going to rely on the City of Anaheim to gain control of the land.

I could be wrong, but I think you misinterpreted that. Disney did recently buy some more land for parking I think. The Park Vue Inn and IHOP are supposedly at risk of closure but not because Disney bought their land. The city of Anaheim does want to build their streetcar stop at that location, but it's not Disney that has bought or would be buying the property. I thought the city was trying to turn it into an eminent domain thing.

We're staying at Park Vue in September, and they just barely (like a month ago) renovated all their rooms and the lobby (new carpet, tile, paint, furniture, countertops, the works). I can't imagine they would have done that if they would be closing in the near future, unless it was a very recent decision.

Thanks everyone for your responses. It looks hopeful that I will be able to book a room there for next year. :cool1:

I had heard the same thing so to be safe we are staying at Park Vue Inn in September (booked before I heard and I would imagine is more than safe) but for January we'll be staying at the Stovall's Inn one. I figure it is closer to the start line (and Trader Sam's!) anyway for the races. :cheer2:

My understanding was that Disney wanted Anaheim to take the land via eminent domain to make it easier to build a multilevel light-rail station/access bridge to the DLR entrance plaza to replace the current grade-level crosswalk completely. The idea being that light rail would add too many people for the existing grade-level crosswalk and sidewalks to bear safely. I agree that this is a heavy-handed way to deal with your local partners (i.e. a Good Neighbor hotel.)

It sounds pretty dirty to me. I hope the Park Vue Inn makes it through this.

Thanks for the article. It was informative and the first time I have seen that the Park Vue is/was really on the table.

Does anyone know anymore about what's going on with the Park Vue Inn? This is definitely on our short list for our trip in June, but I'm a bit hesitant because of the eminent domain issue. Thanks!

Yikes! We're staying there the first week of February. This is a little unsettling.

I agree with the OP, they did just completely remodel. However, money talks.

I just noticed this is an OLD thread, so likely OLD news.

Yes, an old thread started back in July.

The issue still appears "on the table," but I haven't heard much of it lately.

For those with reservations here (that includes our family, with trips in Feb and May in 2015), I assume there will be some serious news about this happening--from the casual poster on here, to news outlets, to posters who are staying at neighboring hotels.
