I know this would be a lot of traveling..........We got a PPO breakfast at BOG, but it's out AK day. However, since AK doesn't open til 9 anyway, I may keep it. Can I take a bus to AK from MK at like 9:30am? Or would I be better off walking to Contemporary and taking the bus from there?

I want to walk in early, eat breakfast, maybe ride mine train once, then head out. We have other MK days so I'm not really worried about that. Since this is for December, I LOVE the idea of walking up Main Street at Christmas with less people and I don't want to give that up! Every other day of our trip MK opens at 8 so I only have one option.

What do you think? Too much of a waste of time?

To my knowledge there is no direct transportation between the parks. So, yes, catching the bus from the Contemporary is probably your best bet.

I may stand corrected. I just read another post where several people stated that there are direct busses between the parks. I had no idea, but that is good news.

Don't feel bad. You are not alone to think that. They've had park to park transportation for years. Not sure why so many assume they do not.
It may stem from the fact that at MK they used to drop you at TTC vs. the park. Drop off at MK is new-ish (though still a few years old)
What is new is park to DS after 4:00.

I was so excited when I saw the park to DS added. Then I realized 2 of the 3 times I'm planning DS on our upcoming trip, we'll be going before 4:00. But, at least we'll get to save time one day.

I've actually stood in the bus line for DS after 4pm and ended up jumping on a resort bus the next line over. there's a lot of people waiting to get to DS from a park, especially if the park closed that resort hopping actually was faster.

There are times where the boat between HS and Epcot isn't running but the bus does.
That's good to know. I have to go from Epcot to HS one night to get to get to our CV ADR. I was planning to take the boat. I'm glad there is a backup in case the boat isn't running. I know we could walk it if we had to, but I'd rather avoid it. That will be day 10 of our trip & I'll probably want to cut my feet off by then.

Your problem is going to be the walk from the boat dock to the bus stop if you get there and find out the boat isn't running for some reason (typically this is ONLY weather related)
By the time you walk back out to the Epcot bus stop you'd be at HS, or dang near to it. I'd stop at Boardwalk and take their bus instead (since if the boat from Epcot isn't running the one from Boardwalk wouldn't be either)

My wife and I really enjoyed that walk. DS14 was mad at me for about a half hour after we got there for "making him walk like that on vacation"
I asked him what he thought we had been doing on the first 5 days of our trip...

I think it's actually when epcot is closed first that they do this and the bus would bring you to the front where your car is so you might want to just bus back anyway.

I don't think it's a waste of time. There was emh at Hollywood Studios so we just hit Toy Story a few times and Tower of Terror once and left before 9:30 to head to Magic Kingdom. If I recall correctly, we did have to wait for a bus for a pretty long time.

Thanks for the replys! I think we will walk to Contemporary because they will probably be more frequent at that time.

You can for sure but they won't be more frequent. Buses run with pretty much the same frequency all over property. When we've stayed at CR I remember one park's buses stopped at both CR and TTC so there is a possibility it's the same bus (though I can't recall one stopping at MK and CR but I also may have just forgotten)

I agree. No need to walk to Contempo, every bus stop has an approximate wait of 20 minutes (there are of course situations that are not normal and you may wait more) so walking to Contempo won't really save you time

Keep in mind that even though buses go from the parks to Disney Springs after 4 PM, there still will not be bus service returning from Disney Springs to the parks.

Just be sure to keep an eye on the park hours. Depending on the week you're going they may change that MK opening to an earlier one.
