can someone explain park to park tickets to me? I feel lost about all this universal stuff ! I've always only done Disney!

Park to Park tickets would be like Park Hopper tickets at Disney. They will allow you to visit both theme parks on the same day. The biggest difference at Universal is once Diagon Alley opens, the Hogwarts Express in addition to being an attraction will also be transportation between the 2 theme parks and will require a park to park ticket to ride.
