We are planning to go the last week of May 2014. I am looking at tickets and trying to decide which ones to get. Park-to-Park on Universal site is $926, Single Park is $812 (for our family for 3 day tickets). Can you add the Park-to-Park after you get there? So if we want to ride the Hogwarts Express we just add it then? Is the price the same?

And is there any reason to buy Express Pass in advance? We will be staying off-site most likely, unless we just really need to stay on-site for early admission to HP.

Also, do they wait until exact opening time to allow other guests in? Or is it like at the other Disney parks where the park actually opens a few mintues early?

i checked out the 3 day pass on ut and saw it at $179.

breaking down your figures, it looks like your prices are high for some reason.

i just did a quick check, maybe i will check it again later when i have time on those prices.

about to leave the house now.

We have 3 adults, 3 kids, and those prices are from the Universal site, so UT may be a bit cheaper? THat's $124 difference for the park-to-park, and I am wondering if I need it? We may end up back at Disney, but we've been the last 2 years and were wanting something different.

If you are going in May, there is no guarantee the hogwarts express will be open( quite possible/probable though).Park to PArk tickets WILL be required to ride the Hogwarts express, and while Unviersal says you will be able to upgrade your tix there to do that, I imagine it will be MUCH easier to have the tix before you get there. NO official announcements have been made as to the opening dates of the Harry Potter expansion other than SUMMER 2014, so what is and isnt open the end of May( if any) is still unknown..As for the express passes, we dont recommend you buy them until you get to the parks and see if you need them. They are DATE specific, PARK specific and NON-refundable .If the HP expansion is open ( even partially) staying onsite would be beneficial, it will likely give you early entry .If you are not onsite, they let day guests into the park a few minutes prior to official opening ( the trek to the current HP takes a bit).keep in mind that without early entry, there will already be alot of people in the HP area( early entry is currently only for the HP attractions so that is where everyone onsite is)
