Hello,

I am in the beginning stages of planning a trip to DL for May of 2007.

My question is about the park tickets. Is it possible for me to buy park tickets right away for a May 2007 vacation? I know that for WDW, this is possible, and I am not sure if this can be done for DL destination.

I have a little money saved up and would like to get a jump start on my planning by buying my park tickets.

So? Possible or not?

I'm guessing you can, try going to disneyland.com and see if it will let you, I think there is a section to put in dates you'll be visiting, I could be wrong, probably am and this is no help, but I'm trying :)

Why don't you just go buy mickey dollars with that money. So that it can only be spent at DL. That is what we do...

Or just stuff it at the bottom of the dresser drawer. I'd personally wait to see if they have specials come up. Some times it is Adults for the kids price and you don't want to miss out on things like that..

DL is a big chunk of money, and when you get there the food's not cheap either. Our party spent around $130-$200 a day for food and drink. Plus everyone had to have mickey hats, and trinkets which burned a huge hole in our pockets. Buying online will save you a lot more then buying at the park, and if you have a Disney Visa use it on everything you buy (toys, clothes, anything).
I think it's 1% of the amount you spend goes into your Disney account, then when you have your vacation booked just call and have your "Dream Dollar Rewards Card" Mailed to you. It looks like a credit card but your using all the Disney dollars you saved up.
Also looking for Specials as Rapunsel said, for Example as said in the previous post in April they has the Adults play for kids price which we got that deal.
Other then that I don't really think there's much you can avoid in costs.

My understanding is that DL & WDW are very different in this regard. If you purchase DL tickets, it will state on the ticket a date by which they must be used by. If you look at the Disneyland web site, under the park hoppers it says "Valid from January 3, 2006 thru January 2, 2007." So, the answer to your question about buying tickets for May 2007, is no, it's not possible.

I think that I've heard that if your tickets have "expired", that they'll credit the price paid for the tickets towards the purchase of current tickets, but then that's not saving you anything at all.

I'd stick the money you've saved up for tickets in an ING account or something and let it earn a little interest for you until Disney is offering tickets for sale for your timeframe.

Have fun planning! :goodvibes

Another vote for using that money on something else, like Disney Dollars to be spent later on food/souvenirs or even PHs at the gate.

Besides, as your trip draws nearer you might find that a package deal through getawaytoday, AAA, or even Disney Travel is cheaper than purchasing hotel and tickets separately.

That is what I was going to say as well. Tickets do expire and I would not buy them for 12 months from now. Put the money away, and buy them closer to time.

Thanks guys! I am so new to this DL thing....that I want to make sure I get this right!

as for buying Disney dollars, I am not american and cannot buy these in Canada(Wish we had that chance though!)

I guess I'll keep saving and hope that something major doesn't break in the house that necessitates me using that money.

I second putting the money in an ING account to earn interest. Right now savings accounts are paying 4.15% with no minimums. But if you open through a referral from a current customer then you get an extra $25 right off the bat as long as you start with at least $250 in the account. The interest you earn can go towards those hats and foods you'll have to buy once you get there. :sunny:

I do see you are going to WDW in October ..

YOu can purchase your mickey dollars then to give to your kids as rewards gifts.. etc..

Just a thought.

That is how we get spending money in our house. We agree on a chore then how many mickey dollars it will earn us..

Generally the next years tickets (and ticket prices) are realeased in October. So by the time you get back from your trip to WDW. You should be able to purchase your tickets or at least get an idea of what the cost will be.
