Park tickets on room key?

Since becoming members, we have bought our park tickets off property. Every time, it seems like a pain in the drain to have two things to keep track of... the park ticket and room key.

DH says he thinks you can link the ticket with our key even if we purchase off property. Is this true? Where can we find the documentation to back this up?

My thought was to purchase our tickets from the front desk when we check-in, but DH says it is still not attached to our room key.

Any thoughts? :confused3

I have bought tickets from undercover tourists a few times and had the paper tickets combined with my room key, as well as my credit card on the same room key.

Will be doing that again this year in

We also bought tickets from Undercover Tourist, and had the paper tickets put on our room keys for a DVC rental reservation.

It's my understanding that you can NOT put Annual Passes on room keys, though.

We have also done this put decided it was not such a good idea to have everything on one card if it gets lost. We now keep them seperate...smjj

For this reason, it is suggested that you make a copy of park tickets before leaving home. Now, this doesn't help if you link your credit card to you room key, but it makes it easier to replace the park tickets.

This may sound dumb, but if I have 4 park tickets, you know one for each member of the family, Me, Mom, and 2 kids, do I then need four door keys or would the one key have the information about the four tickets?

It would definitely make it easier only carrying one item.

You will need four room keys if you are going to link your tickets. Keep in mind you will need four park tickets that you will need to take with you each day to the park, so why not take four room keys?

You will also need one room key per person to get in during morning EMH or to enter attractions during evening EMH.

Just a note that your credit card info isnot actually "linked" to your room key. You key charges items to a resort ID number, not your credit card. The actual credit card number is on file in the resort computer system. The credit card is not charged out until your room key balance hit $1500, or your check-out day.

If you loose the room key, it is easily replaced. But I also carry a seperate credit card, as occasionally the room charge system goes down, and you can't do a room charge, but the regular credit card system still works.

Yeah, we also do that but its just one less hassle to deal with if one card gets lost and so to speak, "our eggs are in one basket"...smjj

This is such great news, thanks everyone!
Since becoming dvc members we always buy from Undercover Tourists.... just did not know we could link them to our room key, woohoo!!

To me it's easier to keep up with one card vs two. Plus after a few days at the park, the little paper ticket gets chewed up, wet and not so nice. We usually only use one of the room keys to unlock the door... I just like the plastic card vs the paper tickets at the parks.

It is also a nice keep sake for scrap books... has the name, dates, room number, and what ever other things you had at that time. DH and I still have the ones from our honeymoon.

How would I link my tickets to the room key? Take the paper tickets to the front desk or will Undercover Tourist simply link them beforehand?

Well, UT would have no way to link to your room key since they don't have access to room keys! You just take the tickets to the concierge desk at the resort, and they will link to your room key when they make the room key.

Undercover Tourist sends them to your house. Take them with you when you check in and they can put them on your room key.

if we have annual passes, what do we need to do to enter the EMH? Also, since we are DVC members with annual passes, there is no way to link the room key to the pass, right? We will have to keep the room key, the AP and the TIW card all separate? :confused3

You will need to show your room key along with your AP. APs cannot be encoded onto a room key, there is too much additional info printed on the AP that a CM needs to see if the turnstile computer go down. Also, your TiW card is separate.

Thanks for the quick reply! That is what I thought - not that I mind at all! I would carry 30 cards if it meant being there! :thumbsup2

I guess I best find one of those clear plastic lanyard thingys to hold them unless someone has a better idea!! ;)
