Park tickets and DVC

My girlfriend and her family are headed off the AKV for a week on my points (ain't I swell) Somewhere along the line they have to buy park tickets.

What would yall recommend as the best way to go about buying tickets to save some time when they first get there. This will be her parent's and sister's first trip to Disney EVER so avoiding a bus to MK and then the monorail to the TTC, followed by the monorail back to the MK before ever getting into the park would be good.

SO, can you buy tickets at the hotel concierge or front desk?

If not, do you think the best bet would be to buy tickets from the local disney store before hand and then just have them transfered to their KTTWC at checkin or buy them online and transfer at checkin?

Also my girlfriend was thinking about getting an annual pass since she'll be in disney for a 6 days in July and 7 days in December. I recall reading that annual passes purchased are vouchers that have to be activated or traded in or something along those lines- how does that work?

Thank you for any help!

Yes, you are swell!

Guests may purchase park tickets at the concierge station at check-in area in all DVC (and WDW) resorts. There are also guest relations stations (where you can buy park tix or exchange a voucher for an AP) scattered all over the world...and at the entrance to each park. You can also buy tix online (thru the disney website and there are other websites as well--google for a bunch of choices...prices vary, but not by a whole lot--i think a site often recommended here is undercovertourist.com?)...

As for annual passes, we got our first APs thru the DVCmember website and then Disney sent us renewal forms after that...so don't know first-hand if you can buy APs in the same places as regular park tickets...but do know you exchange your vouchers for your APs at guest relations...at the entrances to the parks or in Downtown Disney (we used the DTD location, as we were staying at SSR each time ... you also get vouchers to exchange for APs when you're renewing)...you need an ID (at least if you're buying as a DVC member w/a DVC discount), and your member card to get your APs if you're exchanging a voucher...

Hope this helps...and hope your GF and her family have a wonderful time...

Thanks for answering! It's amazing that you knew my question before I even asked it! :rotfl2:

If they can buy them at the concierge desk that'll work out great!

My girlfriend's first trip to disney was with me a few years ago, the look on her face as she walked under the train tracks and onto main street was priceless. I can't imagine (or don't want to) how difficult it would be to be THAT close to the turnstiles for the 1st time ever and have to leave to goto the TTC before heading in!

They'll need to pick up APs at Guest Services at a theme park or DTD. You can't get APs at the resorts.
