I know DVC members receive 10% discount @ the Disney stores for merchandise purchase but do you also get the same discount for park tickets and/or the AP?

I'm almost sure that I have seen that listed as an exclusion as well as Disney Dollars.

I didn't know this.
I often buy from the Disney Store.
Does it work for the disney store on-line as well?

I work for the DS and no you can not get the discount on Park Passes.

eileenfk... no the discount is not available on Disneystore.com, just in the stores.

I think SSRex's point was that you don't get the DVC discount on Disney Dollars.

"The Disney Store Discount
Take advantage of a 10% merchandise discount at The Disney Store chain of retail shops. Please note that this does not include any Walt Disney World® Theme Park shops, resort hotel shops, or any other retail establishment run by The Walt Disney Company or its affiliated companies. You must present your Disney Vacation Club Membership card at the time of purchase. Only the person named on the Membership card is eligible for the discount. This discount is not valid on purchases made through The Disney Store Catalog or The Disney Store Online, and cannot be combined with any other special offers. The offer is not applicable to Disney ticket media, gift certificates, Disney Dollars, and other selected merchandise."

-Fom the members website.

There is no prohibition on paying for park tickets with Disney Dollars.

Thank you for posting the full disclosure that I had recalled seeing

Thanks for the clarification. Now, why no ticket discounts for DVC members? Don't we pump enough money into Disney's bottom line. Arghhh, I'm going to start buying Disney stock so I can at least benefit just a tiny bit from all the money we are going to start spending as DVC members. ::yes::
I wonder how many DVC members are also Disney stock holders?

I'm a stockholder and DVC member, but how do you "plan to benefit"? There are no stockholder perks in the parks, no pass discounts, no "advantages" whatsoever. It is simply an investment, and should be viewed as a long-term investment, since the cash dividends are nothing to brag about.

As far as "why no discount on passes" for DVC members...there is a 10% on UHP passes, but many DVCers choose not to buy them and opt for either the PHs that do not expire, or an AP if we will be at WDW more than 8 days per year. Unless WDW sees 1) a sales advantage or 2) a major drop in DVCers going to the parks, there is no financial reason that justifies offering discounts on park passes. And didn't most of us buy into DVC because we would be going to the parks, so I don't see that major park attendance drop off happening. What does happen (at least for us) is we spend fewer hours in the parks each day and enjoy a more relaxed touring style, thus making APs perfect in our case.

Chuck...

benefit as in more people going to the park = more revenue = hopefully more profit = higher stock price :p

I, for one, plan on going to WDW more often as a new DVC member = more $ Mickey's pocket or Mr. Eisner's = less in mine so if I can make some money with Disney stock, we'd be even sort of speak :teeth:
