Park Strollers

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere already, just wondering what the rental strollers are like at each of the parks. Are they the hard plastic type or do they have a soft back, like a jogger stroller? I would prefer to rent one there, but I also would need one that the kids would maybe be able to take a nap in. Thanks!

MGM has the soft back - but it doesn't recline. The remainder are the hard plastic.

My kids wouldn't sleep in a stroller. They never did at home either. I LOVE the rentals - not the MGM joggers which are horrible, but the other ones, but if I had a child under two, I'd bring my own stroller for the reclining. The rentals are really good for kids a little older, who don't fit easily into most strollers. My six and seven year old shared a double (last time they'll be able to).

Just wanted to add that there is no to very little storage in those strollers, so again not a great option if you are carrying a diaper bag.

We use the top and put our bags there - so we've never experienced the "storage problem."

They also have a hanging thing in back that fit my shoulder bag with four raincoats in it.

The wdw strollers look great for older kids who wouldnt nap, but for anyone who will need a nap, I will always bring my own. While I did see a few kids that were attempting to sleep in them, they really dont look comfy at all! But for an older kid who just needs to rest their legs, they would work great. We brought our own stroller for ds23 months and did not regret it at all. How old are your children?

Thanks everyone for the info. I have a 5 yr old, 3 yr old (turning 4 in a few weeks while in WDW), and a 2 yr old. The older 2 do not nap anymore, but the 2 yr old still needs his 1 1/2-2 hr nap everyday, at least when we're home. Maybe I'll have to bring a small comfy stroller for him to maybe nap in and rent one for the girls to take breaks. Maybe I should have planned this trip for when they are a little older!

No they will be so much fun at this age!!! I would consider renting a single or double for the older two, and then bringing one from home for the little one. If you are flying, it will come in handy at the airport, as well as at the resort, you can have one sitting at all times so you only have two that are running around

Ds did very well napping in his cheapo graco that we brought along. He actually begs to go for more rides in it now that we are home I think it just gave him a soft, familiar place to land when we were down there stimulated by so many unfamiliar things. He slept each day in the parks except the first day, and imho it worked way better than taking him back to the room for a nap.

Depending on where you're staying, you might consider taking afternoon breaks outside of the parks. That has always been our strategy (of course, our kids never did well sleeping in strollers) and it's worked well for us.

If you do end up renting a stroller, I would advise you to take along something really bright to tie to the handle (have heard of people using socks even). This will not only help you locate your stroller (CMs often move them while you are in an attraction) but will also prevent other renters for mistaking your stroller as their own (very easy mistake to make as they are all the same and there is a sea of them everywhere).

We went in September with our 5 year old who hasn't been in a stroller for 3 years. She lasted 1 hour on the first day and we rented a stroller for the whole week. It was the best $65 we spent while in WDW. Every day, she took a nap in the stroller. We would carry a hotel towel to cover the front of the stroller to keep the sun out of her sleeping face.

My philiosophy is this: When in doubt, get a stroller!! They are invaluable..

We were considering rental a full week from Disney also, then I saw another post reccomending this company. I haven't talked to many people who have used them, but I think I will give them a shot, the stollers look nice and comfy for anyone to sleep in, hopefully our DS3 agrees too.

I'm open for opinions for anyone else who has used them also.

From recommendations from the boards, I have set up a rental for a full size crib from abbf over Thanksgiving. So far, I have been impressed with their service. I had a few questions regarding the rental (we're changing locations during our trip from off site villa to the Poly and then to AKL and I wasn't sure how that would work with the crib) and all questions were answered promptly. I'll report back after our trip at the end of the month.
The strollers do look nice on the website. I was thinking renting one in the park would be so much easier instead of dealing with getting on monorails,buses,etc., but since I don't think my little guy will sleep in the park ones I guess I'll bring a small one of my own.

Another "two thumbs, way way up" for A Baby's Best Friend in Orlando. Every time we have used them they are fabulous, and the rental items are clean, well-maintained, clean, and everything is always waiting for us when we arrive at the hotel. Sharp website. Did I mention their stuff is clean?

I have brought my own stroller every time but once - we rented at AK for one day and I thought it was a horrible stroller. Not comfortable at all for DS4, putting bags on top made it tip over, and it was so unweildy to move around. So we just bout the Maclaren triumph for the larger weight limit and we won't be renting again.
