Park/restaurant choices

Taking DD -13 and DS -16 to MK, Epcot, and HS this year. We want to do lunch/dinner at each.

DH and I are bariatric surgery postop 3-1/2 and 4 months. We particularly don't care where we eat this time. Where ever we go we will split meals.

I was wondering where others like to go that have teens ? We have done MK - Tonys and HS - 50s prime time. We don't particularly want character meals.....

Anyone want to share their park faves that might not bore my teenagers to death? LOL

I've listed my suggestions below. I have tried to strictly adhere to your specs ... i.e. Staying inside the parks and NO character meals. There are many others that I could suggest but they'd fall out of your criterion. Might have to leave the park for the others.

Sci-Fi @ H.S. for L or D
Teppan Edo @ EPCOT's Japan Pavilion for L or D
Coral Reef @ EPCOT for L or D --- MUST like seafood or menu is DRASTICALLY cut.

There are others like Mama Melrose and the Brown Derby that I could suggest but there is nothing particularly "entertaining" about them ... nice restaurants with nice price $$$ to go with them

The sit-down restaurants at MK are very limited. None of them do we particularly like. I know you wanted to stay in the parks but I would suggest possibly eating at one of the monerail hotels (Grand Floridian, Poly, or Contemporary). If you decide to do this, I would suggest Ohana or California Grill. For Epcot, I second Teppan Edo. My kids are 11 and 17 and LOVE Teppan Edo. For HS, we aren't into Sci- Fi since we rather eat somewhere with food selections other than what they offer. We enjoy Mama Melrose; however, there is nothing special about the experience. Like PP, many of my favorites are at the hotels which appeared like you wanted to stay away from. I hope this helped.

Thank you for the suggestions. We are not totally opposed to doing a resort restaurant ... possibly something close to each park - have any good suggestions for those ?

My FAVORITE restaurant is in the Poly and is a FANTASTIC place for dinner! Look through my old posts and I will ALWAYS talk up ... Ohana!

Ohana for dinner is FANTASTIC! The food is very tasty and there is as much as you can eat! The food line-up that is brought to you has sooo many good things! A nice salad with a fruity dressing, yummy appetizers like lo-mein noodles, pot stickers, buffalo type wings, and a mix of steamed veggies containing mostly broccoli and snap peas. THEN you move into the main courses ... Pork, Steak, Jumbo Shrimp, and Turkey all cooked over a wood fire grill and brought to your table on giant skewers ... YUM!

And like I said, it's all you can eat ... no matter what it is! So if you REALLY liked the salad or wings you could stuff yourself with just the salad or wings if that is what you wanted to do! Then the dessert is a large bowl of bread pudding w/ vanilla ice cream and a banana foster sauce ... I know what you're thinking ... Bread pudding? It is really good plus it comes with your meal so if you don't like it you really didn't pay extra for it! The servers are pretty attentive but there are times, just like in any other restaurant, where it gets super busy and they might be a little off.

TIP: If you can ... try to get a slightly later time and when you check-in request a table close to a window! When the fireworks at the Kingdom start they dim the lights and pipe the music from M.K. in and you can watch the fireworks from your table as you eat! AWESOME!

DS (17) loves anywhere that has a buffet. His favorite is Cape May, but you'd have to leave the park for that one.

To second another poster, O'Hana is another family favorite.

We really like Biergarten (Epcot)...it's a buffet-style meal, and they have live "german" entertainment....it's really fun!!! We also love Teppan Edo (Epcot), they cook everything right in front of you and put on a little show while they do!

As PP and myself have stated Ohana is a great restaurant at the Poly which is close to MK and Epcot (via monerail). It more casual than California Grill which is our favorite restaurant at the Contemporary (again close to MK and Epcot via monerail). I would stay in the theme park for Epcot restaurants as there is such a great variety. If you don't like any restaurants at HS you could take the boat or walk to the Boardwalk area. It has a great atmosphere and restaurants. The Flying Fish Cafe is good. We really like Boma which is located at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The food is good and unique. It has African flavors as well as typical food (pasta, chicken finger, fries, etc.) While at the AKL you could participate in the animal night viewing which my kids enjoy. You could look on allears.net for the menus of these restaurants to get a better idea! I hope this helped! I hope you have fun on your trip no matter what restaurants you choose.

I love The Liberty Tree Tavern @ MK. They have a strawberry dressing for the salad that is awesome. I ask for ranch & have a little of both. & I love the rolls w/ honey butter. Plus everything else is really good too.

I agree. My teens love this restaurant.
