Park Reservations in December

We’re going to be at Disney 12/16 - 12/21. We do have park reservations but would like to switch a Magic Kingdom day. Looks like Magic Kingdom is unavailable from 12/16 through New Year’s.

Once a park “sells out” do they ever open more reservations?

I've been watching the week we are going. It has fluctuated which parks are full. I think as people change plans, different things open up, but you just have to check back constantly. MK will probably be the hardest one to get, unfortunately. Good luck!

They may or, people may drop their reservations. The challenge is the Park Availability Calendar is not updated real-time so does not show actual availability at the time you're looking.

If you already have a park reserved, the only way to change to MK would be to cancel your reservation and try to get a MK park reservation but this is risky as you risk not getting either.

If it were me, the only way I would risk my current reservation is if the park I have a reservation for is Green on the calendar so pretty likely that I can grab it back if I find MK is not available.

New dates may be added but there is no guarantee this will happen.

Another option is, if you can wait until the day you want to go to the MK, you may find availability then.

I'm going on a last minute trip next week. When I first went to book my parks, there was no MK left. The next day I went in and modified my reservation and scored MK. Just try modifying and you won't lose what you already have.

Can I ask how you found the modify option? I could have sworn I’ve seen it before but I can’t seem to find it back. TIA.

I have only found it on the webpage, not on the app. Go to your plans and scroll to one of your reservations and select " View Details". Then scroll down to find the day you want to modify and select "Modify Reservation". Click through the selections and you will be able to select a different day/park.

You can also add park hopper and go to MK after 2pm. Not ideal and expensive but depending on you reason for wanting MK that day it may make sense

Go figure! Disney just opened Magic Kingdom for most of these days up! We were able to switch the park reservation. Not sure why, but we’re happy

Yesterday I could not get park reservation for Studios for December 29. Today I was able to get it. It does fluctuate!

It was just posted that Indiana Jones stunt show is reopening December 19. I bet Disney increases park capacity at the same time, so makes sense more park reservations would be available.
