Park reservations for October?

I was looking at these for an upcoming possible trip. We have done several trips post-COVID, and the "hotel bucket" usually has the most availability, then "park hopper" then "MK". For October, hotel guests have by far less availability and MK have it wide open! I am not saying one way is right or wrong, but this does go against the common wisdom on these boards that the "hotel bucket" will almost always have both parks available, and that an onsite hotel is a work around if the other buckets are full. I have been looking at this calendar for several weeks, and it largely looks like it does today, so I don't think this is a glitch at all.

I suspect, and this is just a guess on my part, that by the time those dates come around Disney will make sure that those dates are available for the hotel bucket. Of course, that’s not much comfort for people who are planning a trip.

It may be different if you go through the actual hotel reservation process. Those generic availability are not always reliable. Example: October weekends are blocked out for many of the MKeys. Sundays on my Believe Key are not available, but they show up here. Maybe someone with an upcoming res could check for you. I do agree it is odd that there are a few days blocked for hotel guests. Which makes no sense because if you are a hotel guest and are making a reservation you would have either a ticket or MKey. Bizarres.

The whole thing is odd to me. I already have my reservations, so I don't want to even tempt fate by playing around with it, but it is weird....

I mean.. the hotels are full.. at least for our dates. We decided to come in an evening earlier and not a single Disney hotel in any room category was available October 10th.
