I'm sure this question has been answered before, but I couldn't find it in my search.
Our trip is mid-December and we wanted to make park reservations now. Problem is that our AP's expire at the end of November, and it won't let us reserve a park day until we're able to renew our AP's to cover the dates we're going, and we can't do that until 60 days from their expiration. I'm worried by that time there won't be any park reservations left by the time we renew.
If I buy regular theme park tickets now to cover the dates that we're going, can I cancel those tickets when I renew my AP?

We are in the same situation for my DD3 AP. We are all good to go for a nov trip, except hers...can't renew until sept and reservations are filling fast. We have gone to ticketing at MK, AK and Epcot, I ha e called the ticketing line twice also. None of them would let me renew for her early. Just the 60 days. When I asked about buying tickets, and reserving that way, the supervisor on the phone line and the MK ticketing CM told me I can do that, but I won't be given the AP renewal price, it would have to go towards a new AP...whether this is true or not I have no idea. It seems like bot all CMs say the same thing, which is why I checked multiple places! As of now I bought a ticket for her, made reservations with it and am hoping to put it towards renewal price, but knowing I probably will have to buy another full price AP for her. Good luck!
As far as ' canceling tickets' you can't cancel but can transfer to someone else on MDE in your party.

1. More "CM sez" rules.
2. You can renew an AP using a ticket as an upgrade.

You would not need to "cancel" those tickets, but just trade in their value to help pay for your AP renewal.

It might be a semantics thing, but we were able to get AP renewal ‘vouchers’ when we were there in April and our APs expire in September. We have a resort reservation in January. We went to GR in DS and they directed us to the ticket office. I’ve also read that others have called in and gotten them too.

It seems that is no longer an option. I was given that option about 6 weeks ago but chose to wait. Calling back about 3 weeks ago I was sent up the chain of command after arguing I was told otherwise previously and on the 3rd transfer told “we are no longer allowed to do the renewals until they become active at 60 days out.” The only option was to wait or buy a ticket and use the purchase price toward renewal when I reached 60 days. I waited and renewed this week, fortunately all parks were still available for our NYE trip in Dec/Jan.

Yes, this drives me crazy! Wouldn't you think it would be a clear cut across the board rule the CMs learn at training? I almost always get varying answers from CMs. So, what is my best bet for renewing my DD, I tried the phone line and MK/ ticket center. Is there a ' more knowledgeable' CM location i should try instead?Or it's just luck

You can use the price of the tickets towards the renewal of the AP. Our APs expire in September and we have a reservation for October. I called member services, since we are DVC members to ask about the renewal because I could not make park reservations. I was transferred to the AP line and told to buy tickets for those dates and 60 days before my AP expires I am to call back and have them apply the cost of the tickets to our renewal AP. Since our reservation is for 6 days, I bought a 6 day PH ticket so that I could reserve every day.
