1) Orange County contains a lot of WDW and Universal park acreage.
2) The county has OFFCIALLY halted openings (parks, restaurant, etc) until April 9th.
. . . At this time, the county has not determined if this is a final date.
. . . It is official, at this time (Mar-24-2020).
3) Some local attractions announced closures until a least April 19th.
4) Things continue to look "iffy" for exact WDW opening dates.
. . . On the CM Face Book page, some have been told to not report until June.
. . . It is unknown for which departments this applies.
. . . Also not known if this is for full and/or part time employees - no mention for CPs or ICPs..
. . . It is not known how much time will be needed to restart equipment-rides-attractions-shows.
5) Let's hope parks open earlier, and customer dates are NOT pushed back much beyond early April.
. . . We tried to move our cancelled mid-March FW cabin into April, but WDW would not make a Ressie.
. . . It is assumed by us that they are in a holding pattern until some official says "Go".
. . . Alas, with the way the Virus is going, who can predict anything!

Personally, I think Disney should've announced closure beyond "March xx". That date was unrealistic from day one

I would estimate based on what schools do. I teach in a SC school and we are not going to go back until at least May 1st. They may extend that date even further. I expect Disney is on a similar timetable. If I had a vacation riding on it I would change my booking to no earlier than may 15th and be prepared for things like character meets, fireworks, parades, and shows to be not fully up and running.

No way WDW is opening until at least end of April... and that is VERY positive.. my guess end of May/June.. Covid-19 is only starting… give FL with its elderly population to reach their peak in about 3 weeks… if you go of off past patterns on how this virus goes… just my non-professional guess.

I have a trip planned in end of August and honestly am not getting too excited yet. I got burned with my hawaiian cruise on the wonder being affected.

Very unrealistic. No one is going to wave a magic wand or push a button to fix this. The consequences will linger for quite some time. We have a visit planned before summer that likely won't happen due to job restrictions for key personnel. I'd love to reschedule but can't due to DVC rules.

Agreed. Anybody who gave a date out initially, Disney, Six Flags, etc., should not have ever given a concrete date. Because I never believed them when they were announced.

If they did open that early I think it would be irresponsible . This thing is far from even peaking never mind getting back to normal.

I don’t think they want to set a fixed date for reopening at this time, especially since they have no control over what mandates the government may put in place. I know it’s frustrating for those of us who have vacations planned, but what if they extend to 4/19 like Universal and then we get to the 9th and the County extends the stay at home orders to 4/30? I think at this point they will just be following along and if they do make an announcement it will probably be worded as a “no earlier than” as opposed to “closed until”.

I can't change plans at the last minute. This is what Disney is expecting us to do according to the CM I spoke with this week. There are many moving parts and I can't make them happen with a snap of my fingers. I only booked earlier this year when I remembered our APs were expiring. 😫

Since UO released info yesterday of their closure date is through April 19, maybe Disney will update also

I think the thought process at the time was that the incubation period was 14 days. So if everyone had stayed home like they should, it would have cut off new infections from spreading outside of homes where an infected patient was known to be. Those homes could be quarantined and the rest of us could have gone about business as usual at the end of March. For various reasons which are well known, people didn’t stay home and so these past days and weeks of isolation for the rest of us have been in vain As far as shutting down the spread. Now it’s going to be that much harder to contain and businesses closed longer. Our company also closed on the 14th through the end of March and now that closure is being extended.

I think they went with the best case scenario at the time, and in hindsight, it just wasn’t enough. That’s why I don’t think they will word any future statements in the same way.

DW is a childrens librarian and she's going to retire in August. The library just extended its April closure date to mid-May. I told her I think she's seen her last patron. I don't think the library will reopen until fall at the earliest. Same for the parks IMHO. The peak will not come for quite some time.

It would be very nice if we could take the steps that China took. My 'wishful thinking' does not go past 15 days. I wish that within that time we get the amount of testing that we need, and that the health care pros get the supplies and equipment they need. For now, even sooner than that, I wish for thorough compliance with social distancing as the states and municipalities roll out their mandates.

I don’t think it was irresponsible or even unrealistic when Disney initially announced the closure through the end of March. At this moment in time, yes...that’s not going to happen.

This thing went from 0-60 in 0.0001 seconds. I remember March 12. That was the last day of school. After school, we went to see Onward. Between leaving the movies to go to dinner, we got a phone call that school was closed the next day (Friday) and only Friday with an update expected. I told my wife then that they’re probably not going back for the month. By Saturday I said probably not until after spring break. Now I doubt they’ll return at all this year. It went from normal to the world is shutdown within 4 days.

Hindsight is 20/10.

Personally, I question any info coming out of China on whether their steps have been effective. They've been deceptive all along, from punishing doctors who spoke up early, to putting out info through the WHO that the virus couldn't be passed through human to human contact, to the quality of test kits ordered from China by foreign governments being extremely substandard.

Just think of all the celebrations that will occur when we are passed this. It is going to be a stupendous outpouring the like of which I have never seen. We will be able, together, to honor the victims and the survivors at the same time. Let's all try to get through this together by staying six feet apart. Talk about your Disney magic!
