Hello! I am new to the disboards - what a great site!!! I am wondering if any of you seasoned fans can tell me how to obtain a map of the locations of the rides within the parks. We are in the midst of planning our touring plan for each of the parks. I have found general maps, however none which indicate where each ride is located within the park. I would like to use this type of map to assist in determining which rides to do, when. Thanks for your help!

Hello, cdnliving! Welcome to the DIS!

There are pretty good maps of the parks in most of the major guidebooks. The Birnbaum's Official Guide has maps that are similar to the official WDW park maps. The PassPorter Guide to WDW has really great, easy to read maps. The maps in the Unofficial Guide to WDW are good also.

As far as getting official maps beforehand, I'm not sure exactly where or how to get these. Maybe another DISer will know. :)

Again welcome to the DIS, and enjoy your stay!

I bought all 4 maps from someone on e-bay for $2.50. They had recently returned from WDW and had extras. I know you get them free at the parks but it is nice to be able to plan a route before we go. I think I searched for Disney World Park Maps.

The dvd from Disney had a brochure type map with it that has the ride located on them and also a brief description of each ride. The dvd is nice too.

First of all, welcom Cdnliving from a fellow Canadian! I think you'll find this site very useful for your planning.

There are lots of places where you can get maps but the one that comes to mind is the actual Disney site. In fact, it has an interactive map. You simply pick the park you want and click on map. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/index#

You can also order a vacation planning kit from Disney for free on this site. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/myVacation/vpk?id=VPKPage It comes with a dvd or vhs and paper copies of the maps of the parks.

Hope this helps.

If you go to Walt Disney World there is a link about 1/2 way down the page on the right. It says map with a little star by it. Click on that and a pop up window will come up (disable any pop-up blocker you may have). Then click on whatever park you need a map for and it will pop up too. You can download it into pdf form to print.

Mine did. They were in the little booklet in the cardboard DVD case along with a grand gatherings booklet.

Try your local Disney Store on the display where they sell the park tickets. They should have a all in one Brochure that has maps to all the parks.

 I guess mine went through the line too fast. All I got was a DVD. I wondered what was supposed to be in that empty pocket.

Thankyou everyone - you are a wealth of information - and most efficient too!! I have my work cut out for me now!
