Park Hopping

How so, with the new tickets? It has to be really expensive to park hop, and we are going in December when the parks aren't open as late. Worth the extra money to park hop?

What about only having a half-day to go to a park? Are there discounts for half-day visits? I really miss the "length of stay passes."

We had the park hopper option added on last year in November. Our DD was 18 months old at the time. We only used the hopper option for one day out of a 6 day trip. With the parks closing early in November, it just wasn't worth it to us. We do not start out our day at the crack of dawn, so when we made it to the parks around 10am we wanted to take our time in that one park rather than to rush around and then try to make it to another park. We are going again this November and have decided not to get the park hopper option. Originally I had it added on and when I called back to change it, I could not believe my ears when she told me my new balance. I really never knew park hopping was that expensive!!!

The only days park hopping might be beneficial to you in December is if a park has evening EMH and you want to hop over to that park for a couple of hours. In our case, I just figured out which parks had EMH nights on which days and then planned our schedule according to that ie: Epcot has EMH on Thursday so we will spend Thursday in Epcot.

We like the hopper option because we like to go back to the resort for a rest, then decide what we'll do that night. Not having the hopper option a lot of times would have kept us from attending a parade, fireworks, or dinner at a different park. We like to be a little spontaneous.

We also always got the LOS passes. Just got my tickets for next month. The way it works now is basically the same, just worded differently. You just take the basic ticket and add on to it.

Something you might find interesting. I keep track each year of how much we pay for everything on our trip to WDW. The sales pitch this year is that the longer you stay the less you pay. That's true. For the tickets we received this year (which would be the same as the LOS passes we got last year), we saved over $400. Also, we are staying one day longer this year. So it is a good deal, compared to previous years anyways.

We went 8/29 - 9/3. I debated the park hopper issue, but we ended up with no hopping because I figured I could always add it while we were there. No hopping worked out well for us. I planned our ADR's around which park on what day. We only had 4 full days so each park got a day and our AK day was a day that was evening EMH, but we ended up not going back because everyone wanted to just relax at the pool and go to DD. I generally planned not to go to the park with EMH, except we did go back to MK on the evening EMH. We always went back to PORR for an afternoon break & swim.
So, for us no hopping was okay.

We went in December we park hopped quite a bit, even with the earlier hours. One night we were able to watch Fantasmic at MGM and the hop over to Epcot for Illuminations. The day we went to AK, we left there right after the Jammin Jungle parade, took a break at the hotel, then went over to MK for Spectromagic and Wishes.

I actually like the new MYW tickets better than LOS, I like having the OPTION to park hop or not, to get the plus options or not and to be able to add on and change the tickets. We never do the waterparks so it's really nice to be able to opt out of that option. Get the tickets without hopping and then see how it goes, you can always add it when you are there if you change your mind.

it depends onwhat yu are going to do...we had an ap last time and barely hopped. we usually go in dec or jan value season so the parks do close earllier but now with wishes, fantasmic and illuminations that is 3 days we wouldn't have hopped at all. by the time the program was over we were ready to go back for dinner, or dtd or someplace unparklike.
before we always hopped as mk closed around 6ish, mgm 7ish . so we'd go to epcot for the evening. this time it really wasn't necessary( think wishes was round 8 or 9 after spectro, and fantasmic started around 7 or 7:30)

and the days are not long enough( nor the heat or crwds bad enough) to warrent going back for a nap mid afternoon. it wastes way to much time when the parks close early ( figure the parks are only open around 10 hrs, you waste 4 for a nap..)

the only time i would maybe get hoppers now is if i wanted to do the evening smh but most have said they are packed so probably wouldn't bother and just do the morning emh athen stay in that park for the day

but like i said that is just us.
