When I was younger and before kids, park hopping was a must! We would switch it up going to a different park in the morning and evening, which at that time, we didn't nap or anything in the afternoon.
Now that I am older and married with kids, I think buying them needs to be justified, which is dependent on the time of year you go, length of trip, who is going, and if there are any special events happening.
For us, too much bouncing around was too much for my kids. It was nice to be able to say "today is our Magic Kingdom day" and they knew what to expect and all the things we were going to do. It is also nice because you don't have to waste time leaving and switching.
With that being said, when we go it is usually a slow time, like in September, so we can walk on most things. We didn't have to feel like we needed to maximize our trip. Also, when the AK and DHS hours are short, I chose to purchase tickets to
MNSSHP so we had sometime to do later on a short day at that park. Even though the MNSSHP tickets were extra and cost the same as PH, it was a totally different and special experience.
Now, I am considering buying hoppers for our trip in 2 weeks as it is just my husband and I. One day, the EMH at MK is open til 1am. We could benefit from going to a different park in the AM, then hoping over there. We are only at the parks for three days, and because it is just the two of us, we really don't have to see everything at each park, which makes the flexibility nice!
However, my husband doesn't feel that PH is worth it. He is content staying at the same park the whole day. I am hoping to sway his decision
