In my obsessive planning, I discovered that for only $18 more than we would pay for the park hopping option, our family could buy tickets for MNSSHP. I was only planning to hop on one or two days and I think I can easily rearrange the schedule to avoid that. I'm also not too worried about changing ADRs for those days as they were not really "must do's". So do we give up the flexibility of park hopping for MNSSHP? Will the Sept. 29th MNSSHP be more or less crowded than the EMH at the MK? Thanks for your opinions.................Melinda :)

I don't really know the answer to your question, but I would think that the MNSSHP is going to be crowded on any night that it is held...

I think park hopping can be avoided if you plan your days properly. The Halloween party is supposed to be spectacular (or is that SPOOKTacular) and it will not be as busy at the end of sept. as it will at the end of Oct. besides you can rest all morning and get into the park by 4. Think about it paying for the regular park or experiencing an exclusive party many Disney addicts would sell (insert something valuable here) to experience.
Don't miss the Halloween party- you will have stories when you come back that even people that think they 'know' Disney will want to hear! Trust me on this one. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to add... Our group will be attending the Sept. 15th party in leiu of paying for hoppers :goodvibes

We went to the first MNSSHP last year which was at the end of September and it wasn't crowded at all. We were able to walk on quite a few rides and only waited maybe 10 minutes to get on Dumbo, that was the only time we rode Dumbo during our trip because the waits were much longer than that any other day.

Attraction lines will definitely be shorter for MNSSHP than the evening EMH! I'd go with MNSSHP hands down! :sunny:

Let me just say that MNSSHP is one of the greatest Disney experiences there is. I think it will be quite a bit less crowded in Sept. as opposed to Oct. I wouldn't miss it for the world, so YES spend the $18 and skip the park hopping is my vote!!

For me, an easy choice - MNSSHP is something special. Don't miss it.

Yes, it will be less crowded on that date than evening EMH at MK!

Yes, we too always park hopped, loved the flexibility, especially for our final day in the parks...but given your choices, I'd opt for MNSSHP hands down!

We have now been to both MNSSHP and MVMCP and all 4 in our family (me, dh, ds6 and dd3.5) enjoyed both, but felt MNSSHP was even better than the Christmas party! The spooky theme just lends itself so much better in the MK at night!!! Plus we all dressed up as the Peter Pan family w/ ds Captain Hook, dh Peter Pan, dd Tinkerbelle and myself as Wendy. It was a blast. We entered the park early and kids fell asleep as the last float went by around 11pm (we did the 2nd parade). They easily transfered to bed and we just had a magical time.

You will really enjoy it!!!!! Plan your days wisely, don't hop and have a spooktacular time!!!

P.s. We'll be there on Oct 4!

Thanks for the opinions, everyone! I figured this was a no-brainer but I really needed the encouragement before I start changing the itinerary and ADRs. You guys are great! :thumbsup2

If you can rearrange your schedule so you don't need the hopper option, then I would by all means book the PARTY. its a blast...

I would do mnsshp- at least on that day you can do a different park in the morning and then MK in the eve./night. So it gives you 1 2-park day on your vacation.

Please just set me straight on this. We are also considering the MNNSHP instead of the park hopping option. But, is this a separate ticket that does not require a days admission to MK? We would like to do Epcot or AK during the day, rest up a bit and then go to the MK. Would you guys who have been before suggest eating dinner before we go to MK or at the park? :maleficen :hmghost: :maleficen :hmghost: :maleficen

You can get into the MK after about 4pm with just your MNSSHP ticket , so you could do a different park in the am with your myw ticket, then hea over to mk for mnsshp- the mnsshp ticket is all you need to get into MK
The ticket says 7:30pm on it but for the past several years they let people after 4:00
As for eating dinner- many people say it is great to get an ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern before the party- the characters are dressed up and it is really fun.

We're doing two MNSSHP again this year. One night we'll dine at LTT, the other counter service. LTT is nice because the characters are 'dressed' with masks for Halloween. Last year the CMs were dressed as Haunted Mansion characters, it was pretty cool! The food is decent and all you care to eat. However, we are sure to make our ADR for a time that allows us to eat and be out of there before the party starts. That's important, IMO, because we don't want to 'waste' any of our party time sitting in a restaurant. ;)
