Park Hopping Question

We are going to be at WDW later this week staying 6 days. One of the members of our party still needs to buy a ticket. Can we buy a ticket at our resort? And also can we buy a 7-day base ticket instead of a 6-day with park hopping? It is cheaper to use 2 days as park hopping if possible. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Disney is also aware that it is cheaper and the tickets cannot be used this way. It would be rejected at the turnstile.

You can buy tickets at the resort or Guest Services at the park. However you can not buy extra days on the ticket with the intention of using them to park hop. You would have to have the park hopping option to park hop. You can not use 2 days of a ticket on the same day. The turnstiles read the ticket and will flag park hopping denyed if you do not have hopping and try and go to a different park, it will not just take an additional day to allow you in.

If you aren't certain that you will be hopping (sometimes you think you will, but it doesn't happen) then I would just buy the 6 day base ticket to start. If you decide during the trip that the hopping option needs to be added, it can be added any time until all 6 days are used or the ticket reaches the 14 day expiration, whichever comes first. There's no point in spending the additional money until you know for sure you need to.
