Park hopping - moving between Magic Kingdom and Epcot

We will be park hopping, starting at Magic Kingdom and then moving on to Epcot. My question is, should we start our day by parking at Epcot and taking the monorail to Magic Kingdom for our first park and then monorail back to Epcot when we are ready to hop to park #2? Or should we initially drive to Magic Kingdom and then drive to Epcot when we are ready to hop. I would like to minimize the travel time between the two parks.

Thanks!

Are you going to rope drop at MK? Are you going to stay for fireworks at Epcot?
We are off site, but want to get to MK as early as possible. We are actually going to end up going to Hollywood Studios after we are done at Epcot. I was thinking to get up early, drive to Epcot, then monorail to MK to be there before 9:00 AM. Then monorail back to Epcot around 2:00 (we are going specifically to ride Guardians) and then drive over to Hollywood for the rest of the day.

That could work. Trying to park at Epcot and getting to MK before early entry might not. I’d recommend leaving your car at Epcot while at Studios though. Take the skyliner or friendship boats down to HS and take the bus back to Epcot at the end of the night. The bus from HS drops off at the front of Epcot.

Thanks! I did not think about the Skyliner. Maybe I will just park at Epcot at the beginning of the day. Use the monorail to go back and forth to MK and the Skyliner to go back and forth at HS.

As long as you don’t stay til close at HS then take the skyliner to Epcot. Chances are the park will be closed so you can’t walk through it to get to the parking lot. Plus it’s a mile so not something most people want to do at the end of the day.

Got it, that's why you recommended the bus. That all makes sense. Thanks for helping me with the logistics! Much appreciated!

We’ve found when we have a car at WDW that it saves time to drive to each park. You could end us waiting 20+ min for a bus plus transportation time. I’m sure others may say it’s all a wash but that monorail ride is long!

I think we are just going to drive to MK first thing and then drive to HS later in the day. We can Skyline between HS and Epcot. Thanks everyone for your help!
