I'm trying to understand the new FP+. I can only schedule 3 FP in a day but it has to be the same park.

Does it make sense to get a Hopper Pass?

If you book your FP+ at the SECOND park.

We have been park hoppers for years and have used the old FP to the max. However, for our February trip we are not going to park hop. It doesn't seem worth the extra money to go to another park and not be able to ride anything.
If you are planning to eat dinner in another park and see the evening fireworks/parade then it would obviously be worth it to you. FP+ is requiring those of us who have grown accustomed to doing things a certain way to re-evaluate. Just figure out if park hopping is necessary for your family, but since you cannot FP in more than one park, you may decide you can do without.

I am going to be on a short trip, so I am Park Hopping all the way!! I plan on hitting headliners at AK and Epcot on 2 mornings and then hopping to MK for the rest of those days and using my FP+ there.

If you are an early riser and can be at rope drop for park opening you could do a ton of rides before heading to a second park where you have your late afternoon/evening Fastpasses booked!

I think it does, as part of a two or three park strategy:

1. RD at your first park, as many short Standby Lines as you can find.

2. FP+ at your second park in the afternoon or early evening.

3. Parades/Fireworks/Evening EMH at a third park.

So perhaps that translates into:

Epcot in the AM
HS in the afternoon (with FP)
MK in the evening

We don't RD, we do like to eat at Epcot at night. So we always had hoppers.
I may have have to rethink things,.
I haven't been paying much attention to the FP+.
Will we have to buy park tickets 2 months in advance in order to schedule our rides, or can you schedule the rides a day or two in advance?

We have tried it both ways when we tested MB and FP+ last Oct.

We used FP+ in the AM and then parked hopped with no FP+ in the PM and then we tried morning EMH and park hoping and using FP+ in the PM park

It was nice to have the FP+ in the evening park as the headliners can be out of FP's and the lines huge.

The problem for us was planning so far ahead and being able to make our FP + times or rescheduling the FP+ on the fly. We would usually only make 2 out of 3 FP+ attractions due to delays in transportation or other unforeseen issues. We were not able to make changes to FP+ times on the fly that would work for us.

I hope they have made on the fly FP+ changes easier as it has been around for a while now.

Regardless of FP+, I think if you enjoy spending your evenings at Epcot, it is still worth it to park hop. As long as you are not visiting during a peak time period, you could still avoid RD, ride standby mid to late morning, and make your FP+ res for the afternoon. If you were going to Epcot for attractions, then the hopper may not be worthwhile as you may have had to use them in your first park.

Yep now you can goto DHS in the afternoon/evening and ride TSMM using FP+. Use to be everyone had to goto DHS, go though the gate, then your runner took the admission media and ran to TSMM.

That's a good idea. I can use the FP+ in the morning then Epcot at night.
My DH doesn't love Disney as much as me, but he loves eating at Epcot.

I guess it will make sense to buy the Hoppers.

We went in November without the hopper pass for the first time ever and we made it just fine. We booked our fast pass plus for the late afternoon times or later and made rope drop most mornings too. It was a great trip! Having said that, I still missed the flexibility of the hopper and I plan to purchase them next time because we like to eat dinner at Epcot.

If you like eating at Epcot in the evening, then the park hopper is probably a good idea. But if you do that I would also get your tickets early so you have the best chance of getting exactly the times for the FP+ you want.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

So if I purchase the tickets 60 days from Disney's website I can schedule my FP+ attractions at that time?

Only if you are staying on-site. You need to link it to your room res. If you are not staying on-site, you will be able to book FP+ at kiosks day of in the parks.

a bit of time before we are at WDW, but I am leaning toward park hoppers. Rope drop and hit headliners. Fast passes in the afternoon or evening. The one difficult day will be the last one. We usually let the kids choose where they want to go and that usually includes multiple parks.

It does to me. I don't care about FP+ and probably won't pre-select them anyway but I like the freedom to go from one park to another.

It seems like park hoppers are pointless for off site people because everyone says get your fp for the afternoon park, but off site people will not be able to do that until they get there in the afternoon/evening and by that time the headliners will most likely be gone. I wish off site people could book fp online a day or week before.
