Park hopper

With young kids, I love the park hopper option. Go to a park in the morning, come back to the resort mid-day for a nap/rest/swim, and when it's time to go back to a park in late-afternoon, we can go wherever we want, we aren't forced to go back to the park we were at earlier in the day.

Also, as the vacation winds down to a close, you can split your days between two parks, doing the "greatest hits" or just hitting the one or two rides/attractions you missed at one park before moving on and doing the same thing at another park.

Yes YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!! I swear by park hoppers! We only stay for 2 days (sad, I know) so we need it to hit every park (2 per day). However, if you wanted to be in AK one day, the day would be an early one as it closes around 5ish. If you wanted to be in a one park but wanted to see another's night show, you could do it. If you wanted to be in one park but wanted to hit WS, or anywhere else for that matter, for dinner, perfect. These are some benefits among SO MANY others!

I seriously considered the one park per day ticket option for the trip I have booked for August '07. The difference in price only came out to $35/person (family of 4). I really felt that, for that relatively small amount of money, I'd rather have the flexibility to do what we want. We only do one family vacation a year and I want to keep it as happy and relaxed as possible.

Absolutely, YES!

I couldn't go without it. It makes the trip so flexible in so many ways.

If you enter a park only to find out its really packed, you can walk right back out and go to another park (this happened to us on one of our first trips)

If you want to do EMH in the AM and then leave when it gets crowded, you can head to a different park in the PM.

You can do MK EMH in the AM and then do Fantasmic in the PM.

You can go to see the fireworks any night you want to regardless of what you did during the day.

What if your kids decide on their last couple of days that they really LOVED a ride at MK but you were suppose to go to MGM that day well with hoppers you can still do both and get in that ride your kids loved.

I could go on and on.

I've done hopping since my kids were 1 and 4 years old with no problems at all. I just couldn't vacation without it.

My first time in Disney with kids was before Disney came out with MYW, I had the hopper option and never used it once. The second Disney Trip, I did not get it because if the added cost. Did I miss it? Yes and no. Parks like AK are not very big, I could have gone to AK in the AM and Epcot in the evening. Plus if you are on the dining plan it offers more dining options. Now for trip number three, we are getting the hopper option. That is because I have seen and done mostly everything. The hopper option with give us a chance to do the things we really like.

For our style of touring, Hoppers are a must!!!

We're doing WDW with toddlers, so we can't plan anything in stone (too likely to change). The Hoppers give us a lot more touring options.

For our family of 3, it's a $100+ addon. Not too bad when you're purchasing tickets for a week long trip. I could only see forgoing the hopper if I was doing a 1 or 2 day trip. But given that tickets get cheaper (per day cost) the more days you go, I also can't see going to Disney for less than a week anyway.

I say yay. I love the park hopper because I like dinner in Epcot. :D

No park hopper for us. I've done it in the past. It is nice to know that you can go to multiple parks in a day, but I've found that we just don't do that enough to justify the cost.

With the Dining Plan, we aren't hopping this time. We have ADR's related to the parks we will be in or nearby resorts. There was really no need for the added hopper expense.

This will be our first time not hopping, and also our first non-commando(but micromanaged with the help of TGM) trip. I am looking forward to not feeling pressured to go to another park or fit more in than we have the energy for.

We only park hopped one time on our vacation last month and it was $150 extra. Still I would rather have the option of park hopping especially with the DDP. We have 2 small kids and stayed at Poly so we didn't go park commano this trip. If it's in the budget I would get the hoppers.

I think it depends on your situation - how many days you are staying, if you can afford the extra cost, if you really need that flexibility of changing parks on any given day. We've done it both ways. This past trip, we decided to save the $240 and not get the park hoppers. While we still had a great time, there were several instances where I wished we had them. Especially when you have a lot of ADRs in the parks and you have to be in a specific park that day, it takes some spontinaety out of where you can go during the day. And when you go to AK, you can't go to another park that night. So, you have to decide if you think it will be worth it to you, but my vote is YES.

Thank you for your posted. i still do not know what to do yet we are going in May for 5 night 6 days. We all ways got the hopper in the past but it seemed like that we used it 1 or 2 times, so I might get the park pass and if I see that we need them I will get the hopper. looking at it now i just seems that with our ds (he is going to be 4 when we go) hopping from park to park is going to but to much for us.

Park hopping allows you the flexiblity. If you need to leave early one day because you're tired or the "r" word (rain), you can do two parks the next day. For example, if you miss one of the parades and the firework show you would have the option to do it on another day. JMHO.

I think it's a must. We went for 8days with the hopper and it was the best. We went to AK 3x, Mk 3x, Epcot, 5x (2x just to ride Soarin :) :) ), MGM 2x.

We would take breaks in the afternoon and go swim, then head back to the parks.

We also had the waterparks, which let us spend a half day there and 1/2 at the parks without the worry of using a 1day ticket.

Have a great vacation

I don't understand that water park option. So if you go half a day to say, Blizzard Beach and the other half of the day to Epcot, doesn't that count as 1 water park admission and one park admission? Maybe someone can explain.

No the park hopper pass is only for the parks. There is a nother pass that has the water parks/park hopper. i do not know what that one is called.

The first time we went with kids we did not have it and it worked out fine. We did go back this year and got them, and will from now on. Since we did Animal Kingdom a full day the year before a few hours there was plenty for us. We were able to go to a park all morning/part of afternoon, go back for a swim or nap/rest, and then go eat at the park that had EMH that night. It does provide a lot of last minute flexability especially with smaller children. We were able to go to the parks as much as we wanted.
