Our family is planning our first trip to Disney World. I recently discovered this forum! We have a seven year old daughter, she will be 8 when we go. We are planning on traveling in early November, what are the crowds like at this point?

My actual question though is with the park hopper ticket I know Universal Studios is included, does this also include the new Harry Potter theme park? Our daughter is a fan! Thanks everyone!

Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando are owned by different groups. Each has varieties of tickets.

Walt Disney World Parks:
Magic Kingdom (the one with the castle)
Epcot (the one with the big golf ball)
Animal Kingdom (the one with the safari ride)
Disney Hollywood Studios (a pseudo-movie studio park)
Downtown Disney - shopping, restaurants, entertainment (including Cirque du Soleil)
-There are also water parks at Disney and mini-golf and a huge Video Game place called DisneyQuest.

Universal Orlando:
Universal Studios (a movie studio park)
Islands of Adventure
Citywalk - shopping, restaurants, entertainment (including Blue Man Group)

Universal partners with other places in Orlando (like Wet-n-Wild, THE water park of water parks) and Sea World...you can buy combo tickets for all that.

But you cannot buy a ticket that includes Disney parks AND Universal parks.

Harry Potter is included with Universal admission. If you're going to Universal, consider staying in one of their hotels. They are really nice hotels AND you get quick access to the rides.

A Disney World park hopper allows you to enter as many of Disney's 4 main theme parks as you like on the same day. Those parks include Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Animal Kingdom.
Harry Potter is part of Universal Studio's and is in no way connected to Disney or Disney's Park Hopper.
Early November is an awesome time to go!

:welcome: to the Dis. You are in the right place. I'd highly recommend getting a guide book to learn the Ins & Out of Walt Disney World. If you like lots on info in detail I'd recommend The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. If you'd like something that offers condensed exactly what you need to know info then check out Passporter's Guide to Walt Disney World.

They are both a wealth of info and will help you plan a great trip!

Have fun! :wizard:

In addition to other replies, do be aware that the Harry Potter section is not an entire theme park but only a section of Universal. It's a part of a larger theme park, not its' own.

Hello and welcome!! As others have said the disboards is a wealth of information, take a look around and soak up the knowledge.

But to answer your question........No, a Disney park hopper pass cannot get you into Universal or any of it's parks.

The hopper pass is the best if you stay inside Disney can go to the parks in the moring go back and swim or rest the return to the same park or a diffrent park well worth the money with young kids this is the only way i go it works well and keeps everybody happy and well rested

Welcome to the Dis! To help you get the best out of our on line community, I recommend a couple of things. At the top of each discussion page is a list of things listed as Sticky. There is a sticky posting titled "Everything About WDW Tickets."

That wonderful sticky was created by Chesire Figment, an actual Disney Cast Member who works in ticketing. It is the BEST source of information about tickets imaginable.

The sticky posts are there because they are filled with really wonderful information which most people visiting the Dis might have questions about. They are the first place I go when a question arrises about anything Disney related.

If you don't find the answer in a Sticky, then there is a search function here on the Dis. Just tap it with your cursor, and it will open up a window where you can type in a key word or two, and then the computer magically searches all the Disney conversations and pulls out the ones about your key words.

After those two options, if i still have a question, I post a question for my Dis friends to answer, and they always have an answer.

Have a great time planning your trip to the Orlando area, even if you do visit that "OTHER Place" :rotfl2: Just kidding, Universal is a nice park, but it just can't hold a candle, in my very un-humble opinion, to my REAL home, Disney World.

Welcome to the disboards!

Absolutely do a lot of research for your trip. A Disneyworld/Universal/Orlando vacation can be overwhelming if you are not prepared.

Go to the library and check out a few guidebooks. There is a wealth of information in them. Many of them are published annually, but even the outdated ones will give you a general idea of what to expect. Or you can go to your local bookstore and purchase the current editions.

You can go to the official websites for Disneyworld or Universal to get up to date information on prices, etc. Unofficial websites such as this one or allears will provide lots of additional help. And, of course, ask plenty of questions here.

Although you aren't going until November, it is best to start your research soon because reservations for restaurants are available starting 6 months before your arrival date so by early May it would be good to have your vacation plans well underway.

Excellent info! Thank you to everyone, we are all excited to be here and even more excited to be going! Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm feeling that Disney spirit already!
