Park-Hopper than Upgrade or Just Start with Flex Pass??

We are going to the parks in August for 2 days. Benefits of 2 day park hopper then upgrade vs just getting the Flex Pass. We are getting the Flex Pass either way. Just wanted to see if there were any benefits of doing it one way vs the other! Thanks!

I am certainly not an expert in passes but it seems to me that if you get the park hopper and then upgrade it on the 2nd day to a flex pass then you have lost any discounts you may be entitled to on the first day you were there. IE: 10% off of food and merchandise.

I would just get the Flex Pass right off the bat but maybe I am missing something.

Have any signature or signature plus Passholders renewed down to the Flex pass? I heard if you do you can keep your parking for $250. I just want to make sure that is true. I might be interested in the flex pass next year when I renew depending on how fast reservations fill up.
