Park Hopper ID?

I've been reading about the new ID requirements on the passes. My question is, I have a park hopper of my own. But I have a friend that wants to give me one of her old passes with a few days left on it. Will I be able to use it?
I don't want to get stopped at the gate and be accused of stealing someone
elses passes.

Yes you can use their ticket but they won't ever be able to use it. You will have to do the finger scan when you use the ticket.

Regardless of who the passes were origionally purchsed or used by. With the new scanners installed, the person who scans now is the only one who can then use the passes?

That is correct. Once you use them and they do the finger scan then no one else but you will be able to use that ticket.

How come they are getting so strict about this finger scanning stuff?

I would guess that it is because if my friend and I were each going for 5 days, and bought a 10 day pass and shared the cost - then we could each use for 5 days at a great price...the more days, the better the discount. THat is just my guess - anyone else have any ideas as to why they are getting so strict?

because tickets had never been transferable and there have been instances where tickets bought on Ebay turned out to have no days left on them and people felt duped.

Also, there were tons of ticket brokers outside of Disney who would purchase these leftover tickets and sell them again to other people.

The turnstile biometric scanners are not foolproof. If your finger scan fails the turnstile attendant may ask for your ID such as a drivers license. What he does with it I don't know and can vary from one occasion to another, but he is fully capable of copying your name into the system so next time the same ticket is used and the biometric fails, that attendant can ask for ID and match up names.

Alternatively, if a biometric scan fails, the attendant could ask when you last visited and see if your answer makes sense with the usage dates recorded for a partially used ticket.
