For those whom have recently used fast pass + and park hopper. With the new system do you think park hopper is a + or _ and why. If going in the peak of the summer which would you suggest.

That depends on you.

We found that the combination of planning our days much more than we used to and not being able to hop with FP made us barely use our hoppers. In the past we would go to whatever park we felt like and then hop to our dinner/evening park. This time since our plans were so detailed we never really spontaneously went to a park.

Our hoppers only really got used when we arrived back to our hotel before MK was closed and we went there for a couple hours since it was so convenient.

Hoppers can also be beneficial with FP+ use. You can RD at one park and save your FP for a different park in the early afternoon/evening. Really just depends on your family and how you used the hopper in the past.

This is what we are doing, though on a 7 day trip, we are park hopping about half of it. We'll do RD most days and then hop to another park. Our first day we'll be at AK and then will head to MK later that night for EMH.

I would plan on rope drop at the first park and then use FP+ at the park you plan to hop to.

Having just been there and already having our parks and ADRs (for lunch b/c I'm cheap like that) planned before finding out we had to use FP+ I scheduled our FP+ for late morning to midafternoon in our planned park for each day. We hopped 4 times over the course of the 6 days. In hindsight, I wish I had taken the advice to schedule FP+ at the park we hopped to rather than our planned park b/c we are morning people.

Going forward our "whatever" park will be the morning portion of our trip with our planned park being the late afternoon/evening park. We have always done it the other way around. The problem here is that now without having the ability to pull legacy in your 2nd park, you're pretty much SOL riding standby without a long-ish wait for the big attractions at your 2nd park.
