My spouse is heading down to WDW in June for 4 days. If he buys a 4 day MYW and adds park hopper on day 2 or 3, would he pay the price it would cost to add PH to a 4 day ticket ($60) or the price it would cost to at PH to a 2 or 3 day ticket ($49)?

PH is all or nothing, same price no matter how many days you buy. Only exception is PH on 1-day tix is less. Where did the $49 number come from?

I recently noticed the new Park Hopper pricing, when looking at new ticket prices on the Disney website. Saw that Disney now also calculates tax when you select ticket + options.
One day ticket -- add Park Hopper $35.
Two day ticket or three day ticket -- add Park Hopper $49.
Four day ticket to ten day ticket -- add Park Hopper $60.

Gosh, I really miss Cheshire Figment's ticket info updates the instant they were posted by Disney!

Right! So the question is whether the PH price is based on the original number of days or the number of days left on the ticket at the time PH is purchased?

It's based on original number of days. Personally, I wish they had a flexibility on PH bc it's expensive (especially for a whole family) and I can't imagine a high number of people use PH for every single day of their multi-day ticket. But breaking up a ticket purchase into 2 tickets -- one with PH, one without -- isn't cost-effective either, since Disney front-loads ticket pricing.

And $40 for a one day PH if not going to MK.

Good catch! I didn't select the AK-EP-DHS 1-day ticket when I looked at the website. Disney is determined to get their $5 "discount" back. It's insane the way they have changed a simple one-day ticket into a monstrous, convoluted process of knowing what park you need a one-day ticket for -- or else! I haven't read any posts about it here, yet, but I can only imagine the reaction of visitors who encounter the "wrong ticket-no change allowed-no refund allowed" scenario. Especially galling is not being allowed to enter AK-EP-DHS with the more expensive MK ticket, which is how I read the Disney rules. Will this madness spread to multi-day tickets? (Redundant ?)

I went back and selected a one day MK hopper and it states this....

With the Park Hopper Option, you enjoy same-day access to all 4 of our theme parks–Magic Kingdom park, Epcot, Disney's Animal Kingdom park and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

With the new Disney one-day ticket, you have to choose your park in advance (MK, or AK-EP-HS), and you have to stick to that choice. You must originally enter MK with the MK $99 ticket, or originally enter AK-EP-HS park with the AK-EP-DHS $94 ticket, and you can't switch your choice after purchase. After original entry, using the PH feature, you can go to any other park afterward-same day with no restriction. If you have PH on your one-day ticket, it's all good. But if you don't have PH, you're up a creek if plans change.

Here's what Disney says on their same Tickets web page:
(If you select the MK one-day ticket) Important Single-Day Ticket Details -- 1-Day Ticket: Magic Kingdom Park
This ticket provides admission to Magic Kingdom park. It is not valid at EPCOT or Disney's Animal Kingdom park or Disney's Hollywood Studios.

(If you select the AK-EP-HS one-day ticket) Important Single-Day Ticket Details -- 1-Day Ticket: EPCOT, or Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, or Disney's Hollywood Studios
This ticket provides admission to one of the following: EPCOT or Disney's Animal Kingdom park or Disney's Hollywood Studios. This ticket is not valid at Magic Kingdom park.

But, if you had a PH MK ticket (1 day), you could hop to the other three. If you have one of the other three as a PH, you could also hop to MK, as the PH option is $5 more. No? Yes?

Yes. My lament is that if you don't have a one-day PH, you are shut out of MK if you bought the AK-EP-HS ticket, and vice versa. If you only had a one-day visit, and you had the wrong park ticket, you could salvage your visit by purchasing the PH for $35 or $40 per person, but that's a steep penalty. They won't let you trade in a MK one-day ticket for an AK-EP-HS ticket, and vice versa. Remember, it used to be that a one-day ticket was simply good at all four parks. This new pricing is aggressive and predatory, not what "Walt would want," IMO.

MK has significantly higher demand and draws more crowds, so it ought to be priced higher.

While it might not be printed anywhere in the ticket info, I find it hard to believe that Disney would not allow someone to exchange their ticket.

They might not refund the $5 difference if you originally had a MK ticket but that would be a small penalty to pay.
