When we were there in late August we noticed something frustrating. We stayed at WL and when we would arrive at the parks via bus, the bus would OFTEN stop at one of the POP bus stations, which was often number 13 or so, and tell us when we return to go to bus stop number 2 or 3! (because number 2 or 3 was the REAL WL stop). We got frustrated having to walk from far away stops to the park entrance just because our bus was about to turn into a POP bus and needed to be at that station to pick up POP people. It probably sounds petty or snobbish, but part of our choosing a deluxe resort was the transportation perks. Have any of you experienced this? Does it happen frequently or did I get a bad week?

Are you making some kind of a joke?

Wow, if that was the worst thing that happened to me in a week, I would count my blessings.

It certainly seems this board is becoming overrun with petty complaints about strollers, not winning prizes, lack of discounts, people not giving someone a seat on the bus, people walking too slow or standing still too long.

People really need to stop and think about how lucky they are to be at Disney World and stop worrying about the small stuff. I know lots of families who will never have the opportunity to even be there.

Rant over.

Are you serious?!

The buses ALWAYS do that. And if walking a few extra steps is that big of an inconvience to you, you might want to reconsider your vacationing destination. Like the other poster said, you should be counting your blessings for being able to go to WDW. There are some families who would give anything to go to WDW once!

And What A Nice Rant It Was! :teeth:

There is no crying at Disney World. Suck it up and go enjoy yourself!

I do understand your point. But since it's only a 100 feet or so it's not really worth worrying about.

Busses are not assigned resorts. The bus you took to get to the park was directed to pick up Pop guests after your drop off. I spoke to one of the drivers and he told me that radio his directions to him, sometimes last minute. That is why the busses drop off and pick up at different stops.

If you can walk all around epcot, you can walk from stop 13 to the entrance. You should be happy that at the end of a long day you dont have to deal with the Pop Century bus stop crowds. Its so crazy!

Sooo True!!

I have to laugh, too. I mean, you probably walk 5-10 MILES a day just walking around the parks and you're upset you have to walk a few extra hundred feet?!?!?!

:sad2: You really let that ruin your trip too, didn't you???

If that's the worst complaint you could come up with, then you really should consider yourself lucky!!

I hope I'm never in WDW the same time you are. You might complain about my kids walking too slow while looking at a character! :rotfl:

WL, to me, has the worst transportation. I've have stayed at the ASMo, WL, Dolphin, PO & CB. The boat was always full because it picked up at FW first. WL was the last time I stayed onsite. This time we have a condo and we take our own car. The only thing we have to wait for is the tram and everyone is so much happier. This seems to work better for me and my family. In all honesty, the best transportation we had on a Disney vacation was when we stayed at the Dolphin.

:wizard: I don't see where the OP says it ruined her vacation- just that it was frustrating. I can see why it would frustrate someone. Your paying $300 + per night and your going to be inconvenienced for someone who is paying a lot less? It's supposed to make this easier for you when you spend the extra money. I know that upsets the Value Resort lovers (nothing against it- just not for me) but it's a fact. You pay for better service, I don't think being frustrated at a lack of this service is a problem. What is it they say? Don't hate the playa hate the game? I don't let stuff like that get to me, but attacking the OP like that, it's just wrong, and shows that maybe some on this board are a little oversensative about things. We're all in it to have fun and share the house that Walt built. :sunny:

It does happen.

It appears you chose a "deluxe" resort for the wrong reason. Transportation "perks" are open to all guests. No where does it say you get "dropped off at the first stop.

(Personally I can't believe you thought this was something to complain about and I can't believe I am spending time responding! LOL! )

Unless the Op got free dining, they were paying just over $200 a night, not $300. My suggestion would be to stay at either the Poly or the Grand Floridian if you don't want to deal with the bus hassle, not a low end deluxe.

And yeah, I do think that complaint is a bit snobbish. :sad2:

That's just the way the busses run. Their routes are constantly changing. And let's not forget, there's a smaller number of rooms at WL compared to the value resorts so therefore the walking distance will be shorter for the convienience of those guests.

After walking around miles each day, an extra 100 feet should be nothing. It's Disney World. If there's 2 things to be expected it's lines and walking.

And if this really concerns you, try taking a car or renting one next time. That way you can sit on the tram as it takes you to your parking lot section.

We ate at the GF and AKL and waited FOREVER for a bus back to the parks, 25 minutes for AKL and 35 (Yes, thirty-five!) minutes for a bus back. Sooooo.... considering that I only waited 10 minutes tops (other than after-park closing) to get back to my lowly value resort, I'd say if you're looking for better bus transporation, your best bet might be POP.

That blows YOUR theory right out of the window, doesn't it? :rotfl2:

I remember really wanting to be one of the first people to get into one of the parks, and it made me frustrated that our bus would stop further away than the others... I wasn't really mad, I guess I was just SO anxious! From that point of view, I can see why a person would want to be as close as they can be so they can run in and go hog wild!

I think you make a valid point, though... there's no reason the bus couldn't drop you guys off closer to the entrance and then move to their new slot for the other people.

The other posters make a good point, too... I just think everyone has a different outlook.

August was HOT, so maybe that had something to do with it?

When I used to come to Orlando on vacation, I never minded where the bus dropped me off, what I cared about was where it picked me up. The least amount of walking at the end of a long day, the better. Unfortunately my stop always seemed to be one of the further away ones. Oh well!

It still beats having to wait in line for the express monorail to the TTC and then wait again for the tram, which is what I have to do now! :)

Wow, after the browbeating a lot of you gave the OP. he/she will probably not post again. I don't think you guys had to be quite that mean....... :sad2:
