While I thoroughly enjoy planning our WDW vacations and then enjoying the time there, my DH and DS (16) are a little bored with the same old vacation (their words, not mine!).

We've gone to WDW enough to know how to use EMH, E-ride nights, FastPass and other tips to minimize standing in line and getting on as many rides as possible. We've been on everything at least once.

I'm trying to think of things to make this trip a little more special.

I've planned for us to go on the Backstage Magic Tour. I think this will be great.

I was thinking about putting together a list of all of the hidden Mickeys from various websites so we can make a project out of seeing how many we can find.

Any other suggestions?

I understand how you feel. My DD is 16 and DS 18. Although we had a great trip last Dec, they were a little bored too. So, we are planning lots of other things for this Dec trip. My DS and DH are going to do the Richard Petty driving experience, the kids are going wakeboarding, parasailing, and jet skiing. We are also making it a point to do mostly restaurants we havent been to before. Also do more Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon or just relaxing by the pool so they can tan. They also like to take off alone and go to Downtown Disney. They can meet other kids over there at night. Its tough to remember they are still the same teenagers they were at home, so they like to be with other teenagers too, so we try to remember that. Mom and Dad are only fun for so long in small doses. They love to do the parks and all the usual stuff too, especially the Rock n Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror and Test Track and Mission:Space.
I just have to get over the fact that they're not 4 and 6 anymore, and a breakfast with Winnie the Pooh isnt exactly a priority for them anymore.

no offense, but maybe you should take a break from WDW, broaden your horizons and go on vacation somewhere else in the world. There's more to vacationing than WDW. Maybe go to the places that the World Showcase pavillions portray.

Believe it or not, we're going to WDW again simply because it's the most economical thing for us right now (cheap airfare, DVC room).

Since the plans are already made to go in July, I just want some ideas to make the trip seem less routine.

Welcome to my world! I'm the WDW fanatic in this family. DS who is almost 15 and DH have just about had it with "The Mouse" as they put it. :(

This next trip will be the first time DH has seen his investiment (we're DVC owners) since we purchased back in 1999. And I've already been told it will most likely be his last for a long time. Why did we purchase at DVC you ask??? DH bought it for me and DS.

So like the original poster, I'm trying hard to come up with things that will make this trip "specia'". One good thing. DH hasn't been to WDW in a l-o-n-g time; like 8 years. So there's lots for him to see!!!

Try the Segway tour. It's a blast and if your DS is 16 he should be able to participate. It's a new tour and a lot of fun.

Investigate some of the tours and let your children pick the ones that interest them.

Take some relaxation time. Enjoy your resort and dont try to do the marathon. Think about some of the recreational activities like sailing or parasailing. You also might want to consider on of the other parks in the Orlando area, Kennedy Space Center, Sea World or Universal.

Hit AKL one night for dinner. They have wonderful activities for all guest there during the evenings. Informal seminars about parts of Africa by native CMs. Enjoy storytelling by the fire there as well. Check with Gst Services for times and resort tours.

Make it a park-less visit if you dare! Spend some time at FW. Let your DS go to the arcades at different resorts. Rent watercraft. Spend time at Downtown Disney. Sleep in and relax.

Any possibility of US/IOA? As much as my DH likes Disney, he looks forward to the kids being old enough to tackle those parks, too.

These are all great suggestions. Perhaps a different vacation would into focus just what a great time WDW is;)
