Paris?

Hello folks . First post

Going to Euro disney for the first time in march ( first family holiday)

Trying to plan our "day trip" to Paris,

Anyone reccomened Some things to do? We have 6 year old girl so needs to be child friendly.... Also our budget aint to great....

Found 2 boat tours that look good.

Seine river cruise
Bateaux Parisiens..

Anyone had any experince with either of them?

Anyone have advice or some links to a decent site to check out?

We have been into Paris but apart from a hop-on, hop-off bus tour we only spent time at the Eiffel Tower so afraid I can't help with the river cruise.

Hopefully someone else can help.

We were in Paris last year with 2 children and the most exciting thing they did was the Eiffel Tower.

It's free to walk up the first 2 levels, and if you take the lift, also cheap to do only the first 2 levels rather than the top, but the view from the middle level are, in many respects, better than those from the top.

Jardins du luxembourg are a good place for kids to let off steam but beware, while the gradens are free, there is a charge to enter the kids playground, which we found somewhat shocking, given it was no different from any basic kids playground we found in the UK or Australia.

In 3 trips to Paris I've never been on the boats, due to the fact the river is somewhat below the level of the surrounding streets and I've thought (maybe wrongly) that the view would not be that impressive.

Walking around the old streets of the ile de la cite and seeing Notre dame was a big hit.

Although, of course, the single best thing we did in Paris, according to our kids, was Disneyland!

We were last in Paris August 2005. We had a day in the city with 3 kids aged 7,6 & 4. We got the train, walked to and along the river. We went on a river cruise, - not sure which and sailed up and down the river (saw notre dame and Eiffel tower from river) - it was a glorious day and the kids loved it. What they didn't love too much was the distances between each major attraction - it was a lot to expect from them - but we made it. We had lunch just off the Champs Elysees, then walked down it to the Arc de Triomphe, up the Eiffel tower, walked around the outside of Louvre and slowly made our way back to the train. It was an enjoyable day but very tiring - don't organise too much for the following day - not an early start anyway.

There are a lot of wonderful places to go with a family in Paris! I have mentioned Berthillon ice cream (very famous!), which is very close to Notre Dame. The river cruises are wonderful, there are a number of different ones. We've done at least two different cruises (including Bateaux Parisiens), both were great. Sunset or just after dark is a wonderful time to take one! You can get the boats in several different places, including near the Eiffel Tower (which you should definitely do as well!) Food is going to often be cheaper in the Latin Quarter, also near Notre Dame. The church will probably be of interest as well - it's beautiful inside. Just remember that there are beggars and pickpockets and such, so bring a moneybelt.

You are welcome! I'm sure they were who we used in 2005, as we had the coupon then (the same one). This past year we used a different company, whoever Fat Tires bike tours took us on. I'll probably use Vedettes this year, maybe another one too (definitely if I take another nighttime bike tour).

Been told by many people £650 ( what is what we have) is not going to be enough so voucher will come in handy!!

I know that you can have tea with your favourite Disney Princesses which,If your daughter is anything like mine, will be something she remembers and talks about forever. Just to let you know, If you are travelling in March and are an AA member, kids go free at Disney according to my friend-check it out if you are on a budget.

Jamie....We're going for our first time in April, and my daughter would love teas with the princesses, but I thought I'd read that they only do meet n greet at the Royal Show (or somethingorother).... where do they do tea with the princesses?

That's correct. Meet n greet the princesses in front of the castle. Currently there are no character meals set up with the Disney Princesses
