Hi,
This is my first venture onto the DLP boards.
I'm trying to determine where to go for Spring Break with my family of 4 (me, DH, DS (15), DD (11).
One thing I'm considering is Paris during March 24 (departure from ORD) to March 31, 2007.
If we go to Paris, I'd like to spend 2 nights at DLP. I was on DLP website to see how much it would cost to stay at a moderate hotel but I couldn't get a price because the website kept telling me to select a package. Once I put in the dates I wanted to be there, the package information disappeared so I couldn't select a package.
Does this mean there is no room available during the selected dates?
Is it very busy at DLP during this time of the year? I believe most French schools have spring break from March through early April but I'm not certain about that.
My next question is, is this usually an affordable time to go?
So far, airfare alone will be over $3000.00 it seems. I thought airfare to Europe is cheaper in the spring. Maybe I'm just looking too early.
I was also considering just getting the kids passports now and waiting to see if any deals came up just before spring break to leave my options open. Does anyone recommend this or do the resorts book up far in advance?
Any advice that can be offered would be appreciated. I haven't been to Paris in years and my kids are dying to go. I really want them to see the city as well so I'd also book a hotel in Paris for part of our trip.

Welcome to the DLP boards :wave2:

have you a popup blocker on your computer as maybe that is why you cannot select package. :) I had a look at 24th March and at this time of year children go free so you will benefit for DD. Mind you your DS will be classed as adult :confused3

If you have a look at the Useful info sticky most of the European holidays and school breaks are posted there :goodvibes

Can't help with this time of year, but I'm sure others will jump in :)

March is one of our favorite months to visit Paris since it is less crowded. Also, it is still "low season" for hotel rates and airfares.

We're also planning on going to DL Paris in March for the first time. I had the same problem with the website saying to pick a package, and I found out its because they havnt released prices yet. It isnt like WDW where you can book well in advance I was told. I'm going through a travel agency as I was told online booking isnt very efficent. Idk how true it might be but i feel safer booking with a TA or over the phone. We are flying out of JFK and forearly march each person is around $ 45o I assume that was a decent price but I'm not sure. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

That's strange as I can access prices for March - Cyrano may be right that you have a pop up blocker - try holding down CTRL while you click, this stops the blocker :)

Also, you can book through the phone direct with DLP, not sure of phone number but this is definitely the cheapest way to book - I got a price with DLP and then went to Thomas Cook, and told them the price - it was £170 cheaper! When I asked if they could compete they said 'Um...No...'

I went at the end of March this year and it was quite chilly (but not raining, phew) and quiet. However, i went at the end of March the year before and it was absolutely boiling and quite busy...It depends on the weather and if you will be there over the weekends really, but it is much much much quieter than Easter and summer :)

Thank you all very much for your help.

I'll try to access the website again after turning off the pop up blocker. I'm also going to visit a travel agent for help with this trip.

Before visiting a travel agent, I like to have some idea of the deal I could find to see if they could beat it. I'm going to map out the trip on my own first.

Thanks again!

Rates are only available for UK, not for "other countries" visitors. You can "trick" the system if you change the country to UK. Prices are in Pounds, not euros.

I live in Spain and I usually do that, because sometimes there is special offers for the uk or french market (3=2, 15% off) that we dont get in spain.

You don't have to live in these countries to get these offers, You only need an real address... from friend for example :thumbsup2
