paris hotel recommendations

DH and i are planning a trip to paris this summer (august) and i thought i would ask for hotel recommendations. i've done a fair amount of research, but i'm having problems making up my mind, so i thought i would ask here. i am fairly familiar with paris, and i've been there before, but i've never stayed in a hotel there.

requirements:
close to metro
air conditioning (we will be there in august, LOL)
moderately priced

english speaking staff would be a plus, since my french is pretty bad, though i'm always willing to try.

Sofitel Grand Arche.

We stayed there and found it to be very nice. The concierge did speak Emglish, but I spoke French with him. It's a relatively new property, too.

Hotel Du Louvre. It is truly a wonderful little place, just around the corner from the Louvre and the metro station.

CBRorBUST -- it's actually pretty easy, but it would be helpful, i think, to pick up a french phrasebook (rick steve's is good). there are some key words you should know.

i took one year of french in middle school and i got by with that and the french i have learned in phrasebooks/tapes.

the last time i was in paris (1998) i had no problems...people were very friendly as long as you were polite.
