::MickeyMo "Well hi there everybody!"

Having just returned back from Disneyland Paris I thought I'd make a fresh accusation: the fabled 'cheap' feel of the park is mostly the result of the music.

Compare.

WDW, Florida, has soothing music all over Epcot, vaguely futuristic, definately cultural. Animal Kingdom has organic music (I seem to remember) and Magic Kingdom has light, springy music. All parks were unique and as a result all parks felt different, moods swinging gently into place.

Disneyland Paris had what appeared to be French pop music.

Anyone care to comment?

Ummmm, well. Okay. But comment on what? Your observation was valid from your perspective and it is true that music can be very significant in defining a mood.

I like your avatar.

Having been to both I must stay Disneyland Paris was a great disappointment - just didn't seem to have the right ambience.

I never noticed the music differences but was struck me was the FRENCH! Couldn't pin it down to any incidents but the French seemed just a little more stand-offish, no welcoming smiles either even from CMs.

And the treats just weren't the same - no yummy ice cream in the flavours I like, all snacks had a 'continental' bias which didn't appeal - I just like US snacks, US food generally, US prices, US kindness and hospitality and US sunshine more.

I'll stop now - am starting to sound like a US commercial - and no - they're not paying me!

Have a happy Disney Day

Well I can't comment on topic because I have not been to DLP yet, but I had to thank UKAnnie for her kind US comments.:D

Also wanted to tell UKAnnie that l loved her trip countdown, it gave me a good laugh to start my day this morning!;) :teeth:

I was at DLP on March 16th and at WDS and DL on March 18th...funny, but I didn't notice the music at all.

I had heard not to except smiling CMs, so I wasn't disappointed in that aspect.

The park is must beautiful, the crowds were light, the weather was great, so I had few complaints!

But I agree about the snacks...no worrying about the kids always begging for a treat at every snack place you pass because when you want a snack you have to go looking for one! When we were there, park closing was at 8 pm, but by about 5 pm, the snack kiosks and a few of the restaurants were closed. It was very difficult to find anything for dinner, and impossible to buy a snack.

I had heard that the "cheap" feel was due to the Disney Studios Paris park only having 10 attractions, and that the entrance plaza building with the shops was considered one of them LOL.

Please don't take what I'm saying as rude....

I'm sorry you guys had semi-bad experiences, but you have to understand it's a completely different country. Even though it's a Disney owned park, it is there to cater (spelling?) to the European crowd, not Americans. Have any of you been to Tokyo Disneyland? I have a feeling your experiences there will be much worse.

You also have to take into consideration that most other countries dispize (spelling?) Americans, especially the Japanese. I have a pen-pal who lives in Paris and she does tell me what it's like there and it does vary from the USA.

Also, when considering what you are saying about Disneyland Paris is, this is a park that was thought to go out of business. And no matter what, nothing will compare to the originals, Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Just the main thing that everyone needs to understand that when going to another country for anything, there is a major cultural difference.
